Heres the thing, I have 2 cars, i have a 1995 ford contour thats pink and the interior has cigarette burns everywhere. the engine only has 123,000 on the dial, great running engine, good on gas, handles nice and has a little power. the other one is a 99 or 2000 its a second generation. It has a 4 banger but the whole top end on the engine needs to be redone. its in perfect condition, no scratches in the paint and the interior looks like it was never sat in. so im wondering if i should do this, i have performed a few engine swaps before but never on a front wheel drive car. i basically want to pull anything that is attached to the V6 and stick it in the newer car. can it be done?? how hard would it be?? how much money do you think will be involved??? is it worth it or should i just get the top end of the 4 banger fixed and call'er good??
now i understand i would have to swap the whole subframe, i was thinking strip the front ends completely down on both cars until theres just wheels engine and suspension less the struts of course... if thats possible. then swap the whole older style subframe over to the newer car, the only thing i would have to worry about then is if the newer bumpers, fenders, etc. will bolt up to the older style subframe

thanks in advance

Welcome. It is more trouble than it is worth. You have to pull "everything" (engine, tranny, subframe, exhaust, PCM, radiator) to get it to work.

right, you pretty much would take even from the front end of the car with exception of the body parts to make it work, then on top of that. Plus you have to keep in mind you need EVERYTHING, so if you break anything, its a trip to the junk yard to find a replacement.

better off selling both as parts cars and using the cash to buy a decent low mileage SE sport, or 100K SVT. :)

goin threw all that right now, prep stages, and depending what happens i might give up and go with a pre98 for my project...

Exactly what I was thinking... He could probably sell the 95 out right. Parting cars out is time consuming and requires a bit of space to pull it off.

IF you have the time, skills, and lack of money to buy another car, this could be the way for you. Like everyone has said, it would be a lot of work but if you don't want to see the cars going to "waste" go for it.
