So when I was doin some work under my car not that long after I got it, I noticed that my car has one.. And surprisingly its in excellent shape.. I guess I didnt really know they put them on back in 99... But it sure is nice they did. Its gotten rubbed off here and there over time but its virtually all intact. Anybody else got this? From the same year or older?

I was wondering how that spray can stuff, that's like Rhino lining, would would. :ponder:

It's one of those thoughts that's crossed my mind.

As far as I know, some undercoating has always been present. Many years ago it was a common practice to spray undercoating under the entire car after it was built, usually as a dealer enhancement. This practice mostly went away as cat converters came into use, as getting some on exhaust parts that got that hot made a mess (and was specifically called out to avoid by automakers).

It never really did that much, as the factory already sprayed the critical areas. There is nothing wrong with the spray-on undercoat sold in most parts stores. Feel free to use it wherever you want, but be very careful to keep it of the exhaust system.
