I was driving to the store , making a left turn into the parking lot , and the other driver ( a busted corsica) who was not paying attention made a left also and ran into me. My wife was taken to the hospital for a mild concussion and neck/back pain. She is ok thankfully. So my tour = totaled. I will probally buy a late model eclipse gsx/talon tsi with the whole 2500$ they will give me, and i will part out my car , due to a slipping clutch and the damage from the wreck . It will be in the classifieds soon so keep a eye out.

Id say its SVTC time!

The damage didn't look to bad untill I noticed that it was the back of the car that got hit and not the front.

Your going to let them total the car for that?!? It doesn't look like there is that much damage. I would say that it could be fixed for less than $1500 out the door. Is there any other damage that I can't see?

well what the insurance adjuster told me is that the damage is well over 2500$. My car is worth about 2300$, i can tell them that i do not want my car totaled out , but that would be like talking to a brick wall. I need another car a.s.a.p so i think a csvt is out of the question for a couple years. Im not the richest person im 23 and make 12$ a hour and can barely afford what i have now. so 2500$ car ftw $

If you are having money problems, do not get a DSM. Fun to drive and fast but money pits to no end. And you can get a CSVT for $2500 :)

with the rear wheel cocked like that I don't think its all to driveable! Thats just my opinion though.

I'm completly sorry. I payed to much attention to the body damage that I didn't even notice that.

Yeah dude, unless you can perform most of the labour yourself, it'll likely be about $2500. I had a minor accident in my parents 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis (basically new fender, paint, and alignment) and it cost around $3,000

The good news is, I just bought a 98 CSVT for $1,000. It needed $2,000 in repairs and I got basic insurance ($1,000,000 liability) with Pilot insurance for $173/month. The other bonus, is that Pilot insurance doesn't need any money until 1 month after the effective date. The downfall is that after that month, you need to pay first & last, as well as the month you drive it, so essentially 3 payments in one, but you have one month to accumulate the cash from the date the policy starts.

Just keep your eyes peeled. It might be a blessing in disguise bro

**EDIT: The $1000 took a bit of haggling...using the repair costs as leverage.

I had to get the rotors re-surfaced on a work truck and while i was at thier shop , i noticed a t-red e1 sitting in the yard w/o a licence plate. Maybe you guys can tell me what its worth.

The Passanger side headlight is held on by gravity.
The oval is held on by bailing wire.
It's missing both side skirts.
The rear chrome trim is falling off.

Passanger side. (He brings the bailing wire theme here also.)

Spaghetti under dash. (The owner of the shop told me that the car had a aftermarket alarm and it prohibited the starting of the car.)

All this damage with low miles :eek:

I found this in the car.( I hope this is not his asking price.)

The shop owner told me that the car is for sale, he did'nt know the price the owner wants for it as he is out of town. He also told me that when he got the car running its only running off of only 3 cylinders (possibly a sensor, or coil). I know i can use many parts off of my S.E. I don't wanna get in over my head here. Maybe you guys can tell me what its worth.

Get the claim back on your SE & keep the car & offer that guy $500 for that car. With that much damage thats reasonable & he should accept. I don't know haow mechanically inclined u are but I wouldn't go higher than say $900 to $1000 (I probably wouldn't go that high). The wiring on these car is a weakpoint from the factory & you can tell someones been playing w/ that one, stress this to the seller. Also point out everything that you pointed out here to him as negatives, say nothing positive. Let him know you are going to have your work cut out for you blah, blah, blah, & you should end up w/ a 500 buck car & the insurance money can go towards fixing it.

I would agree with that, with the car needing both body work and engine work, $500 sounds reasonable.

EDIT: With some fiberglass and fresh paint that front bumper should clean up nice. I'm likely going to repaint my front and rear bumper next spring due to rock chips and minor scrapes.

I paid $2000 for my SVT with only the rear trailing arms being bent. Cost me $80 in parts and other than that the car is near perfect!

It looks like a pretty straightforward fixer-upper if you're willing to spend a bit of time and a bit of money, but $5,000+ is way too much for a car in that shape.

Like the other guys said, let the guy know about all the negatives (don't point out the only positive, the fact that it's rare), and offer him like $1100 max.

If you can swing it for that price & use some parts from your old car, it could be a _really_ sweet deal.

Good luck, and let us know how it went dude!
