Trying to fix my 98 contour, I need help

Sorry to make a first post a request for help, but I'm really stuck.

We got my girlfriend a 98 contour to go to work and back. After a short time it stopped charging the battery. I took the alternator to Advance, and it tested fine, and my battery is fine and I even tried one out of another car just to make sure. We removed the "mega" fuze from the hot battery line so it has a straight shot from alternator to battery and still the battery light is on in the car and its dead within minutes with the high beams on.

This one really has us stumped.

mine was doin the same thing i need help asap 99 ford contour i havent check the mega fuze yet

Did you say you had the battery tested?

Although not the Ford, a recent charging light/ jump needed to start still indicated the battery had 12.7 v on the meter. But bench tested, it yielded poor cca... bad cells... 3 years old and just out of warranty. Replaced battery, cleaned up the connects including grounds and 'all good"

Yeah, I put the battery out of my cobalt in it, nothing changed.
