Trans shop

just my 2 cents here doug since you know i have been around the block with these cars and i have seen several rebuilds that were done on other peoples cars. Do yourself a big favor and if the guy where checkeredsvt took his contour is willing to do it take it there his work was superb in my opinion, the trans sounded and acted just like my trans that i got out of a cougar with less then 10k miles on it. to me this guy knows what he is doing. on the other hand i seen real bad jobs were syncroze were not installed right and it was a :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored: shifting the car to techs that did not bleed the clutch master out right and your pedal now sits almost on the floor forcing you to replace it which is another pain in the you know what. if i had to take a pick out of the 2 peoples cars that i drove that had rebuilt trans in them penntwo's and checkered i would half to say without a doubt checkered was put together with precision. Oh and one last thing the mtx75 will always have a wonderful chatter that never seems to go away it is just the harmonics of the drive train. to prove my point on this with the clutch not engaged and the car running obvisouly try easliy putting the car in 1st gear and wallahhh no more chatter since your putting force on the loosly hanging selecting forks in the trans.

I'm giving him a call tomorrow. Thans jason.

Doug, He put in the torson for me. Also updates all the bushings to bearings as Ford had made upgrades to the trans since 1998. There was a xls document posted somewhere here on the differences. Updated the shift mount on the trans to the newer one. Installed a new clutch and flywheel as well.

As Jason as said you will ALWAYS get noise from the trans while running and not in gear. It seems to be a simple fix, put more tanny fliud in it so the shift folks don't vibrate as much.

I am completely satistied with the job that was done. I do beleive the owner has many years of experiance working at a Ford Dealership....

Awesome. I hope to call next week I got swamped at work. What kind of price range are we looking at for an overhaul with an lsd? PM me if you want,

Your best bet is to call him. It's been a couple years since mine was done. He was very reasonable in my opinion. When I called around he was the lowest price. Also I think he races Pro-Stock Mustangs? He has a very good rebution in the trans business. Everyone I talked to that knew of him recommended him.
