Why the Hockey Hall of Fame of course ;)
I just changed my tranny fluid, '95 MTX... Why did I get about 2.5 quarts out and 2.5 quarts in? I thought it only held 2.1 quarts?

I was cheap and only bought 2 quarts of the new stuff, so I had to mix in the old stuff... Is this bad? Or does it just mean that it will not last as long?

If just a little bit of the old was mixed in with the new you should be ok. If it was my car and it was filled properly with the correct fluid, I wouldn't worry about it.

I think my book says 2.7 qts so if you got around 2.5 that should be most of it.

Wait, what??? Why have I read on here that it only takes 2.1 quarts!? If I was expecting it to be almost 3 quarts then I would have gotten 3...

EDIT: Well, whatever... My tranny just has 0.7 quarts of the original fluid and 2 quarts of the new stuff... No big deal, it is not like it will not mix anyways...

2.7 quarts until early 2000 when the trans was revised then 2.2 quarts.

And LauraSVT has a 2000...

Damn, my fault for not specifying a year...

Oh well, guess the new fluid will not last as long, LOL...

I hate being OCD... All I can think about is this... Looks like I am going to have to spend another $60 and do it again... I hate being like this, everything has to be done perfect... I hope I learn to not be cheap from this... I will go from +20 to -40 if I do it :nonono:

I wouldn't be overly concerned about mixing a little of the old stuff with Ford Honey. When Ford introduced it, the TSB introducing it said that it was suitable for use on the older transmissions for fill, refill, or topping off. Mixing is not an issue.

I would run it for 30,000 miles, at least, before worrying about it.

Oh, I did not know that...

I have to get my trans fluid changed, I know its WELL past due.

When its cold out it feels like shifting through sludge.
