Toying with the idea of a road trip.....

OK, I am in NC and toying with the idea of taking a road trip to purchase 98MystiqueLS's car in RI. The quotes that I am getting to have it shipped are outrageous. So.....lets see what everyone's thoughts are.

I have a couple of ideas that I am toying with.....the car has a broken MTX so driving it back is not an option. What I am thinking is either doing a dolly here and drive up there with it and back or rent one closer to him one way.

I will probably use a 96 E150 to do the towing so does anyone have any thoughts yay or nay?

I will also try to do an update of our progress while on the road

when you get up there, grab a u-haul dolly. that way your olny paying for it one way rather than both. plus ive heard some bad things about towing empty dollys on the highway

Its actually cheaper to do it round trip but like you said, I did not want the headaches of towing an empty dolly up there

Well no road trip now....he just pm'ed me that he sold it today. The search continues....

hmm... thats weird how it would be cheaper? do you know why?

too bad about the mystique, thats the bad thing about decent deals. were you using it for parts or were you planning on fixing it?

Yea its funny. I think they charge you more because you are taking inventory from one dealer and adding it to another.....at least thats what they said when I asked.

Yea.....I'm bummed about it, planned on fixing it and using it as my daily. I am new here so when I see a car that I am interested in the classifieds, I have to pm ...cant post in the classifieds yet.

So far I thought that I had 2, one seller seems to have dropped of the face of the earth and the other sold it today

I am looking for a SVT or any manual V6 Tour. If it needs some mechanical repairs that fine ........I just need one for a daily.
