Too hot!!!

split units or duct less they are the same. they sometimes cal them duct less for the odvious they don't run ducts in the house. I have forced hotwater heat and a conventional central air would have been around 8 grand vs 2 grand for the multi unit I have.
 
Yeah part of the reason I'm not allowed to have AC is because the wiring is so old in the house... the house was built before electricity, and then they added it later on... it's still probably 80 years old. It's designed to run a couple light bulbs, not huge appliances like ACs. Our kitchen wiring had to be redone for all the appliances in there. My mom's AC has it's own personal circuit now, she hired an electrician to install a circuit. I offered to pay for my own circuit and electricity, but she won't hear of it.

The worst part... our 2 dogs get to sleep in the AC with my mom... and I'm stuck in the heat. The only trade-off is it's only costing me $100/month to live here.

Install it yourself one day while she is gone. :laugh: It isn't too hard.

when it's late , put on some camo and do the belly crawl..real slow soldier and find a cool spot on the floor next to the pooches..:laugh:!!

After much whining by my wife I broke down and put the A/C's in. She had to pay for it though :laugh:

Nothing like having a good romp session with the ice cold A/C blowing all over your body. OK too much info?

There was word that they'd lose their accredidation if they didn't install a/c within a certain amount of time.

my highschool had no air conditioning except in one of the gymnasiums and in the computer lab. both were new additions to the school, so they added it then.

the rest of the school had NOTHING. and my school (catholic school with strict ass administration) was almost nazi like in terms of not closing the school for any reason. i went to school with blizzard warnings in effect...and exited the school in 3 feet of snow, and stood in it cause the buses weren't running.

but there were several times where it was up around 99-100+ and we were in there, cooking like....i dunno, just cooking! nothing you could do but open a window. *some* of the rooms had like a hundred year old ceiling fans that were set to like 3rpm.

god i hated that school!

it was ridiculously hot today...didn't even wanna work. thank god i have cars with working AC now cause it was on full blast all day! i mean...just standing outside today was enough to make me break a sweat. gross. and of course i have to be in pants and stuff...i just cooked dinner on the grill at around 8. it was still 90+ degrees out there. I just sat there and sweated...to the point i kinda lost my appetite.

My AC is set at 72 also. Best thing we did to this house, add central air.
Your pool water is 76!? Mine was 89 today. :(

i checked it when we went in about 6pm and it was 85 it warmed up 10 degrees in a day or to... we couldnt keep are dogs outta the water.. 1 of are dog is smart enough to know that she floats if shes still. so she floated around for an hour kinda funny
 
My high school had classrooms with literal walls of windows (~30 feet long ~7 feet tall) unfortunately only 1 or 2 of them would open in each room. I lived through construction between sophomore and senior year. They got smart and got rid of the window walls, but now the school looks like a prison with only 3 windows per classroom. At least it's much more energy efficient and they now do have air conditioning.

Highs in the mid-70s over here, nighttime lows in the mid-40s. Gotta keep warm somehow -- nothing like shared bodily warmth. :D Giggidy giggidy!

Humidity out here is 40-50%. I haven't turned on my A/C this year yet, although I hear from the locals that this is an unusually long spring. I miss you all, but not the East Coast summers.

Electronic thermostat set to 75 keeps the house cool for when we get home from work, and keeps the cats happy. Otherwise our short, low-ceiling, black house would be around 110 by noon on days like this.

I remember back in 99 or so the video store I work in lost its A/C on the hottest day of the summer. It was 98 outside, and about 110 inside the store. They wouldn't let us close down the store, despite there being absolutely no business that night. I sweat through three shirts, and my co-worker and I took turns sitting in the now- empty ice cream chest and burning through cups of ice from the adjacent Dunkin Donuts.

It's the price I pay for living at home. Can't beat $100 a month though. If I had my own apartment, then I probably couldn't afford an air conditioner. Kind of a trade-off I guess.

Last day of this heat! Really severe thunderstorms are supposed to come through on a front line tonight, and cool it down to the 50s with low humidity. Most of NY is covered with a tornado watch... I really hope we don't get a tornado.

Definitely can't beat that. I'm paying $400 a month at home right now.

the lightning on saturday night was teriffic. just tons of flickering, made for a fun party background. didnt hear any thunder though :(
good thunderstorms are the shiz
