Dont just start the car up for the sake of starting it. If you arent going to get the engine up to temp by driving around you might as well just let it sit and keep all the fluids happy.
Why wouldn't the car get up to running temp?:shrug:If you arent going to get the engine up to temp by driving around you might as well just let it sit and keep all the fluids happy.
Only wanted to add I wouldn't start the car weekly w/o driving it---if the car doesn't get to full operating temp, you'll do more harm than good.
When I store my cars for the winter, a full tank of gas w/ stabilizer and a battery tender was all I did after a good cleaning and quality indoor cover.
If you drive the car and get to operating temp a few times a week, I doubt there's much to worry about.

Cool man, I hear you. I'm lucky that I grew up with a gearhead for a dad who had (and has) some serious machines. Going through it myself and making stupid mistakes back in the day makes me appreciated car forums like these so we can all learn.I had it at operating temp every time I started it, and didn't tuoch the accelerator until it was. But thanks for the tip; not everyone on here has a long-time gearhead Dad to tell them that
BTW, I never had to drive it to get past "R", and it would always settle at the middle of "M"

Thanks! I never do anything with this car without consulting my Dad. We actually fully planned out the exhaust I'm soon installing before I even thought about buying it.Cool man, I hear you. My point is unless you get the car up to full temp there's no point in starting it; and even then, there's no real reason just to start it unless your going to let it get up to full temp and go for a drive.
Sounds like you were doing it right if all you were doing was starting it

if the car has been well maintained I wouldn't worry about not driving it to often. My SVT doesn't get driven often. I just fire it up, let it warm up some and take off. That is all I did this morning and I think it was last week sometime when I drove it last, I actually can't recall at the moment. Anyway I don't do anything special at this time.
Now over the winter when it will definately not be driven I disconnect the battery and keep it charged, swap the summer wheels off, add stablizer to the fuel, etc .... you basic winter storage guidelines.
Search feature brings up multiple topics, both in this forum and the old forums.I'll be storing my SVT this winter for the first time...never stored a car. What are the basic winter storage guidelines? Sorry to hijack the thread.
