Guys, I've condemned post hijacking, both by the original poster and by others in the past and there is a very good reason for it. Besides being rude, it fouls up the search function. There's a post on the general troubleshooting forum where a guy has a misfiring engine and then he proceeds to change the subject to wheel bearing problems. I tried searching on wheel bearing problems and that post didn't come up. If I was searching for any information at all on wheel bearing problems, I would miss any information, good or otherwise, that post contained. Please do yourselves a favor and start a new post if a post on one particular subject has already been started and you wish to ask a non-related question. Thanks!
Karl

here is a link to the aforementioned wheel bearing posts. I moved them out of the alternator thread and in to their own new post. I do this quite regularly, in order to preserve the search and archive functions.

What is the problem here now? I just typed "wheel bearing" in the search function and got the post that Ray found (was referring to).

Yes, you should get the post Ray "created" from the one I was referring to in the original post but you don't get the original post which is why I started the thread hijacking post. The original post was for an engine misfire and then it went off on a tangent to wheel bearings. My contention was that if we were searching for everything on wheel bearings, we'd never see the info that was in that engine misfire post that dealt with wheel bearings. At the time I started the hijack post, I didn't know that Ray was catching these wayward posts and breaking them down into separate subjects. Still, it has to be hard to catch them all. Plus, it's just plain rude to change the subject, especially if it wasn't the original poster who did the changing. That's all.

I can understand your frustrations with threadjackings, but I still gotta ask whether you're searching just thread titles or searching entire posts for your search terms.
I can't see why a search for "wheel bearings" won't bring up every instance where those words were used in a thread, when using the entire post search feature.

I tried both and neither brought up the original post I mentioned. It did come up when I added the word "knuckle" in the search string but you would have had to have read the post to know about it. Plus, after many months, even if you had read the post, who would remember to add it then? This is just common courtesy more than anything else. Who doesn't think we could use more of that in this world?
