The "OFFICIAL" 2009 Fall Dragon Run Thread!

Some of those routes are like . Fun looking.

One thing to consider - even in October, is the possibilty of douchebags getting into wrecks and clogging 129 for hours on end. My simple run down the Dragon and back to our cabin in Gatlinburg last year turned into an all-day trip because of this.

So... I suggest we bring snacks/sandwhiches. I know I will be, with my voracious appetite.

Ask and ye shall receive.

I wonder if these will hook up?

And the best part...

I like the R32 plate frame and I spy yellow Lamin-X on the fogs as well as a dirty K&N, but I'm sure that's going to get cleaned before the trip:cool:

JCJetta, your right about bringing some snacks, but even when we've run up on the accidents, its moved out pretty quickly, that or we just end up hanging out by the wall or that large clearing past the wall, either way, we'll be alright and speaking of alright...

51 MORE DAYS TO GO!

After 3 days of working on the car I finally got the gutted manifolds installed and optimized a y-pipe. The first day i spent almost entirely fighting the EGR tube and ended up just pulling the rear manifold with it still attached (which is a real PITA). after i got it off i managed to get the EGR tube off only to discover that all the threads on the nut going to the manifold were stripped and it wouldnt go onto the "new" gutted manifold. I ended up just welding the hole on manifold closed and used the EGR valve (temporarily until i can get a real block off plate) to seal off the intake manifold. spent most of the second day actually optimizing the y-pipe (unless you really want to take it on i highly recommend having a shop do it). I also installed a wideband in the y-pipe at the same time.

In the end though all i really have to say is WHY THE HELL DID I WAIT SO LONG!!!:cool: the low end torque is deffinitely improved and the high RPM pull is better as well. probably should get a tune eventually to turn off the EGR (instead of just living with the CEL) and lean it out a bit at WOT since it runs around 11.5:1  the sound is also improved as well

Yes Roger, it does have a little rasp but only for a short time at about 3.5K. If i can get a resonator installed before the Dragon i will but no gaurantees.

Please! I would like to be able to drive behind you!

Dan, its good what you did to the car, but atleast throw an old cherry bomb muffler in the mix, trust me, the car will be VERY loud! I had gutted pre-cats, true duals w/2.25" pipes, dual resonaters and those Magnaflow race mufflers w/ the built-in 4" tips and my car was VERY loud under accelaration:crazy::crazy::crazy:

While I'm at it..."FIDDY DAYZ TO GO!"

Its actually not really any louder than it was before, of course you know how loud that was. I really dont know if ill be able to get a resonator installed as i leave to head back to school this weekend.

Spent the day installing a 28" (overall) dynomax thrush glasspack that my local Advance Auto happened to have in stock. Its now a little quieter but still has a very nice deep tone to it, and best of all, NO RASP. Best $25 i think i have spent in a long time.:cool:

Nice!

Thanks Dan, from all of us:laugh:

BTW I'm pretty sure I've got one guy from that xceedspeed site to go with us and he's already been there. His name is Drew and he's got a modified Vibe and he's a cool guy to boot, so he'll fit right in. I'll keep you guys posted and if you need a roomie out there, Drew is willing to do that as well:cool:

Your welcome guys. :crazy::laugh:

I did get a little video of it today. just have to get it off the memory card and upload it.

What is up with all the white smoke? Has the compression been checked on the cylinders lately? Really. Check it out!

i had washed the car earlier and never drove it as i was going to wax it later (never got around to it unfortunately) so any water that ended up in the mufflers condensed and thus the smoke.
