Hey guys, spotted this tonight when I came outside from working out with my wife. It was in the lot of the athletic complex of the college where she goes up here. I'm guessing it's a test mule for either a chassis or powertrain as the body wasn't camo'd at all. Looks to be Flex front sheetmetal on a Taurus X body. Anyway, the pics.

Frontend:

Moving to the side...

Spotwelds down the middle of the front fender. (Hard to get a good pic on a white car at night)

Mismatch fitting by the mirror, also extra metal welded in between the windshield and the a-pillar. I assume the number is a unit number, was all over the thing.

The back end, can't see too much. There was tape down the entire side of the hatch on both sides.

Rear 3/4:

Also had a class 3 or 4 hitch on it.

Anyway, I thought it looked kinda cool actually, figured I'd share it with you guys to speculate on it.

Yeah, Jalopnik had pics of these, but much more rough looking...probably an EcoBoost powertrain vehicle. They were thinking it was a U502 Explorer mule.

Love my '08 Taurus X. Except for NVH through the throttle and steering column (makes my Grand Caravan feel like a luxo-van) - and the lack of a telescoping column. Come one Ford, the Volvo P2s can telescope! WTF?

Great pics..Now ant then the only cars I seen around here like that are BMW's running around with factory plates on them....There is a processing plant in Oxnard that preps all BMW's for the western region .....They usually go flying me so fast that you couldn't even get a picture of them...............

My Ford Focus telescopes.

never got the whole "Taurus X" thing. I mean a Taurus is a car. Name the crossover something else!

In fact, I got one of these for a rental car when I was out of town on business. My keychain said Taurus X and I looked in the stall and saw this SUV looking thing. I was like these dumb asses don't know what a Taurus is?? Then I looked at the Taurus emblem and was even more confused but said F it and drove on in it.
