Stupid state troopers know nothing about cars.

It's my understanding that as of 10/07, all exhaust modifications are illegal in this state.
that sounds about right.

but that also means that any vehicle that does not have a factory exhaust on it is illegal
every hot rod, classic car, or any vehicle that is over about 10 years old is illegal if it has had any exhaust work done on it.
stupid stupid law!

My brother had a new muffler put on his saturn and it looks stock, sounds stock etc but it would be illegal as well. I wonder if someone could sue the state to reverse the law because it creates an unfair advantage for car manufactures when you outlaw all the other competition.

Exactly, which is why this is so stupid. My exhaust had rotted in a couple places, so I replace it with ANOTHER Contour exhaust, but that isn't legit? WTF? I hate Massachusetts.

LaRadio.... exactly.
if it isnt a factory replacement it is illegal.
so what do you do when you drive a mint condition 1977 Ford Granada and the muffler or one of the pipes rots and falls off?
you sure as heck cant go to ford and buy replacement parts.
so according to mass law the car is not allowed to drive on mass streets.
fools!!!!

I'm moving to Connecticut. Either that or I shoot every deep-end environmentalist in the United States. If I could, I would do the latter, but I guess I'll just move to Connecticut

hey its not that bad .... problem is I don't think we are to far behind MA ... I mean they are going to change emissions testing so that if you have a tune you will fail ... but then again I think that is because with most tunes the lower O2 sensors are tuned off.

Are there even jobs available out there? ;) :D

If you like mining, logging, or gov't job there a good amount. And there is always someone looking to hire accountants and computer (programmer, analysts, managers etc).

Mining is the big employer around here. They pay fairly good as well. Labor normally starts off $15-$20/hour for new hires. My brother in law is an electrical engineer for them and he is making $60K/year salary (he has been there almost 2 years now) and then he also gets a safty bonus/month when there are no accidents. Currently they are paying their mortgage with just that. And yes their house is more expensive than ours  ($120K).

+1 for NH. No state income tax = instant 5% pay raise.
unless you own a house then you end up paying more than that right back to the state.

i pay just over $3K in property taxes here in lowell.
my nex house will be the same size but with more land and i will most likely pay more than double that in property taxes.

My uncle pays around $4K in property taxes for about 250 feet of lakeshore with a nice house on it and a 4 stall garage with a heated workshop. That is simply not right.

i forgot to mention specifics:
my house is about 2200 sq-Ft
sits on less than 1/2 an acre.
i do have a 1000Sq-Ft detached garage, but most appraisers say its worthless.

Where I live, that would be about $500-$800/year. :nonono:

I know .. I know .. but I'm renting, and my rent is much much cheaper than Boston and comparable to places in central MA. Though I haven't done hard numbers, I still think you make out on top with no sales tax, income tax, etc.

This is a house near me (foreclosed) whose taxes are $7500+.

Brett Hull's summer home in Duluth on a Lake (not Superior) is valued at $917,900 (add about 1/3 more to that for actually sale values most of the time) and even at a seasonal property class the taxes are $11,500. If it was homesteaded it would be about 1/3 less. You guys really are getting boned hard for taxes.

thats an awesome house!!!!
needs more land though.
around here the taxes on that would most likely be right around $3500

The yard is huge for the area, pics don't show it, I think it's roughly the size of my building's front yard. I don't care for the addition personally (that "living room" is disproportionately large).

ElKy if you bought that place you would be a stone's throw from me, and drunken walking distance from Kim and Mike. :D
