Well when i went to move from MI to IL i had to take my car out of storage for a few days. During these few days I had a problem with starting a couple times when my car didnt start up right away.

When i turned the key i could just hear the starter spin. But it sounded like it wasnt catching the flywheel or something? I would do this once or twice and then it would just start right up a second later.

Anyone ever had this happen and if so what would you do to fix this? Or anyone knwo what this could be?

Thanx in advance.

im not sure if its even been replaced. since ive had it, it hasnt been. i was hoping it was just the started but it sounded like it was engaging and spinning but just wouldnt catch anything. Unless it can just spin without engaging then it might be going bad. Any other ideas? Should I just plan on replacing the started come pring time?

Thanx

That is exactly what mine sounded like.

might actually be the starter, the piston might not be engaging, so the starter spins, but doesnt extend onto the flywheel.

When my last battery was on it's way out, I used to pop start down my driveway once and a while. I love parking on a hill. No effort what so ever to start it.
