Well a year after having my ST24 engine rebuilt while it was out being cleaned for concours it decided to blow black and blue smoke. After checking as much as possible with the engine still in the car and having no resolve the only option was to remove. The garage who did the rebuild are going to cover the cost of any repairs, so nt all bad news.

Now the good bit, knowing the engine was being pulled I decided that I might as well make a bad situation good, so I picked myself up a ST220 engine opting for the 3.0L conversion.

I'll be sad to see the 2.5L engine go as I've spent quite a lot of time and money getting it the way I wanted

especially as the 3.0l install in the car its being removed from isn't quite to the same cleanliness standards !!!!!

The 3.0l gets removed tomorrow ready for steam cleaning and paint. I've already prepped the upper and throttle body for the Cermakrome process,

So in two weeks they will be ready for installation.

I'm hoping to have the engine looking as good as if not better than the 2.5l, so fingers crossed.

I'll post up as bits get prepped / painted / coated.

sniff sniff .... i smell something fishy .. or is that the sea air from the island !! lol ... G.

That donor car is def. not as clean as yours. Sorry to hear the news, but you'll have more power to play with now :D Best of luck on the swap.

Ok so the 3.0l lump came out yesterday and I'm just stripping off the last bits of the 200 before it goes to the crusher in the sky.

Not very clean and just waiting for my OCD touch !!

Also had a look at the inlet that was on the car ( the other one was an extra I bought to get Chromed ), As you can see it has a ST200 throttle body and I'm not sure if the bellows are 200 or 220. Luckily I bought a 220 throttle body with the other Upper so thats sorted, hopefully the 200 bellows will work out ok.

And finally who ever did the origional conversion were not the best mechanics money could buy as many of the connections were bodged and my favourite was the blocking of this outlet on the UIM. When you have no pipe the right diameter just silicone on a bottle top !! oh dear

I couldn't find a finis number on the bottle lid !

Ok a little progress today, 3l is out and the block is painted. 2.5 comes out tomorrow and the timing chain and cam covers can be swapped. Then a tidy up of hoses etc and I will look installing the 3l.

It's fun messing with a perfectionist. Looks great!

Being a perfectionist is not good ! I've just ordered new sump bolts to contrast with the silver paint and look factory fresh !! Fords then told me they were £3.60+vat each !! sadly I still ordered them as its got to be perfect or not at all.

these are the things that make or break a car. subtle touches like fresh bolts and tucked wires. i look for detail on cars. mine was getting there and i just gave up. my chassis has too many old parts on it to care at this point. it's decent though.

anyways....... send me one of those ST220 intake manifolds trek!

:nonono:

im sick of all these guys paying out their a$$ for these manifolds. they aren't that hard to come by over there, they should be cheaper. i'm not paying 600-700$ for a 3hp gain, if that.

Then don't buy one . I waited and got mine at an awesome deal ($550shipped thanks to Mosh). I almost ordered one from the dealer until I converted the 400GBP to CDN funds and saw that is was about $900 then another $300 to ship and then there was custom fees on top of that.

If I see any more over here I'll buy them and pass them across the pond. Postage is about £70-80 pounds to the US. 2nd hand values of the manifolds are £150-200 pounds.
