ST220 and SVT UIM pics

Changes lifted from another thread:
"This should be an easy weekend upgrade for anyone with a pre-2004 oval port motor with traditional PCV. It fits with no hood clearance issues. Heed the following caveats:

a. No EGR unless you get very creative.
b. Requires you to make gaskets to mate to LIM.
c. IAC is like the Contour and is plumbed into the manifold. Great candidate for a 65mm TB! An SVT TB will work, a Taurus TB will not work.
d. Brake booster outlet is just like the Contour

I bought this for my 2004 motor and found that:
a. It will not fit over COP units
b. It will not fit over the 2004/2005 PCV outlet on the rear valve cover, requiring a step back to the old PCV system."

i made good power on that UIM, and it can be max honed. we culda traded+cash on that ST220 though i neeeeed it. lol. do you need a gutted lower intake bimini? i'll sell it to you real cheap if you don't want secondaries, lol.

and i will add.... i haven't seen a dyno chart from a car with ST220 UIM that proves that its better than a ported 3L with SVT stuffs. starjammir's car has a gutted lower intake mani and shoshop upper and it made what 220whp? so where's the dyno sheets from all the ST220 intakes? i know it's superior in the oval port world, but i still think its very debatable what is better SVT or ST220...... i've had both oval port and split port 3L's now and i think the SVT is better, of course i don't have SVT cams now i just have 04 sable cams so it might be debatable. however, my car has good power to redline (stock tune atm) because of my bigger induction components (65mm tb, 75mm maf,)

You will have a dyno soon enough. My ST220 will be going on in the spring and I will be dynoing the car on the same base tune and on the same dyno.

yeah i gotta see what you can do so i know how crazy i gotta get with my car to compete. lol

I was going to do it this winter but 1) didn't want to take the car out in the winter 2) figured I would just do the isntall when I have the motor pulled to do my Spec3.

How much do you charge for a clutch replacement? :laugh: Cause I know one day I will need one....hopefully waaaaaay down the line. And pud said his car was dead even with him, and since you basically have the same set up...... :)

So now you're comparing Hybrids to Oval Ports to Ported? IIRC, he told me that he made 220 WHP when he frist got the car, before he put on the gutted LIM, SHO Shop Y-pipe, 65mm TB, etc. I've ridden in and driven the car, and I would be willing to bet that it makes a bit more then 220 WHP now.

Yes that 220whp was before the sho-shop y-pipe and before he deleted his secondaries. The car pulled pretty good at SZ08 and I'm betting that is does make more than 220whp now.

I hear it runs even with yours. :cool: Which means yours runs even with mine. ;) I don't quite understand that though. :shrug:

yeah, i'm comparing the two. since i've had both setups on a 3L now and ran very hard with them. my 3L untuned with SVT intakes, secondaries intact, stock tune, stock TB, and a crappy intake made 205 WHP at SZ 08 and i later put on a CAI, 65mm TB, gutted lower, and a 75mm MAF housing and it was fast. i would compare it to starjammir's car, but only judging from the short ride he gave me and that isnt' really a good comparison. although his is a hybrid and mine was a ported 3L also.

now i have a full 3L though, and it needs lots of attention, lol.
 
here's what i will have, once everything is finished and installed this spring, on the N/A setup just before i get a turbo on it:

Weapon R headers
Weapon R y pipe
3 bolt flex pipe, 2.5" test pipe
2.5" trubendz exhaust 1 muffler no resonator (magnaflow muffler)
04 sable 3L (super low mileage when installed)
3L cams
05 Taurus UIM
MSD DIS-4 ignition
65MM TB optimized
75MM maf housing (pro flow)
Weapon R secret weapon intake (to be purchased)
Weapon R heat shield (to be purchased)

as far as power goes, thats about it. the heads are stock, unported. EGR is deleted, so is IAC. once tuned, if this car doesn't put down 220 WHP at spring zing, it's going up for sale. i think i can push over 220 pretty easy, if joey is willing to spend some time with me on the tune :)

if i had a st220 UIM, i'd be more comfortable saying that, but i'm still confident ;)
