Squeaky engine on rainy days

on days when it is raining (or had been raining earlier) my engine is rather squeaky sounding. I'm not totally sure how to describe it other than squeaky sounding. Its very much loud enough to be very annoying. What could cause this? FYI- I have removed the hood liner, so I'm not sure if this could cause this. Allthough I removed the hood liner over a year ago and this just started happening a few weeks ago

If no one knows what the heck I'm talking about I can try to get a video of the sound with my camera

The SVT has a belt tensioner that tightens it up automatically. Unless its really bothering you I wouldnt do anything other than try a can of squeak stop lubricant.

thats what I was thinking. do i need new belts or can i just tighten them up?

The belt is automatically adjusted by the tensioner pulley. If it's the serpentine belt causing the noise, try replacing the belt first. If it doesn't correct the issue, next step could be replacing the tensioner to tighten it up.

The squeak could also be coming from a pulley directly and not have anything to do with the belt. This happens on my brother's Zetec Mystique when it rains. The pulley starts squeaking as soon as there is enough moisture in the air.

this is starting to sound expensive

i might just try that first. where exactly would i spray it? just all over the belt itself?

You try to spray in on the underside with the ribs for the pulleys. They may call it belt dressing on the can now that I think about it.

Mine does that whenever it rains/has rained. It sounds like a squeaky pulley until the engine warms up to normal temperature.
