as far as protecting the autograph, use some clear adhesive before you clear coat it, like the **** they put on mini coopers front ends, stone guard or something durable like that, and make sure to scuff it up a little bit so the clear sticks but only a little so you can see it too.

Thanks Alot for the info Bob, I will plan on being there. I am "restoring" the exterior of the car soon but I don't think I will have it done by then so it will probably show up "as is".
