Saw this yesterday:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

It had Police specific MP plates which are issued in Illinois for all Municipal Police Departments. Second, it had LED lights on the rear deck, a Satellite antenna on the rear deck, and a clear plexiglass divider in front of the rear seat, which is almost impossible to see...

Interesting...

Law enforment is starting to just get more cars that "blend in". Lets them observe traffic a little better.

Man, they should have gotten a Tempo, then NOBODY would expect it to be a cop car.

Louisville PD has an old Dodge Caravan (im talking the old boxy ones from the early 90s), no markings or external lights just lights tucked in the grill and headliner. the only reason i even know it exists is because i have seen it with someone pulled over.

They have a Fusion cop car around here as well. It looks very similar to the one posted but the one here is a V6 and darkly tinted. The only indication that i saw that it was a cop car was that there was a 3rd light cut out on the window tint which would be unnecessary on a regular fusion since the 3rd light is in the trunk. Also there was a uniformed cop driving it  Next time I dee it I'll try to snag a pic.

come to MA, they use everything.
there are a few towns using Ford Five Hundreds, Fusions, impalas, malibus, i even saw a Mazda protege with lights and a laptop mounted in it the other day.
and these are all unmarked slick tops.

Like I posted in a similar thread a few months ago, I get a big kick out of this kind of stuff... I always try to get a good pic and post it. This pic was not the best of quality, but still shows the "goods." Honestly, even if they decided to drive a John Deere tractor, it would not pass me by - I have a real good nose for them. ;)

The deputy chief at the dept I work for drives a black fusion just like that. The chief drives a newer dark blue explorer. The chief in the town I live in drives a black ford five hundred and I have seen him with someone pulled over and at their window in a shirt and tie.

You never know what cops will drive these days. Around here they have a couple new tahoes, black with black wheels and dark tint, and big black push bars on the front. I think they are RWD because they are pretty low to the ground and they haul ass!! I got pulled over by one about a year ago, he was cool and gave me a warning surprisingly. Thats when I learned that those are the K9 units around here, no markings on them at all.

regardless i think cop cars are generally easy to spot...the fusion is pretty obvious from the rear even without seeing the plates. the rest of the cars they use are the same pretty much. in the front, the lights are easy to spot in the grilles. or, in the case of the fusion they'd probably put them in the windshield or something.

i think there's a few higher ups around here in the PD that have their personal cars outfitted with lights but they still also drive ford/gm's...i remember watching that show DEA on spike during the first season. that one guy had his 5 series fitted with strobes!

Yeah, those are becoming common these days... And why not, the Government is selling itself Police cars. Government Motors offered local municipalities sick prices for those Tahoes, around 24k a piece. And you are right, they are all RWD, as they are Police specific Pursuit models that mandate a lower center of gravity... And they look bad ass to boot.

Here is the example contract from Louisiana:
