does anyone know how to go about putting a spoiler on a svt, that doesnt have one on it?
will i have to replace the whole decklid?

drill...preferrably w/ the template.
Do you have a spoiler? Need one?
I've got new silver frost w/ template, instructions, wiring..it's got a couple light scratches that may polish out, otherwise it's really nice. I'll let it go cheap.

What year / color?
Where are you located?
I am looking to swap decklids with somebody. I don't want my spoiler.
First get the spoiler then drill some holes according to the layout, bolt it in place, and hook the lights up.
In general there are two types you can get. One is a factory off another car that came with one. It is held in place with 5 bolts and two studs. The studs go into oblong holes with inserts in them. Then they pop in. Connect the lights to the high mount lights by a splice, or if removing it just plug it in to the connector. Lastly change out the trunk lid struts to the heavier duty ones for the spoiler. These are a PIA to get to on the inside end.
The other is an after market type they look real close to the factory ones. In fact I got one off a 98 Mystique and thought it was a factory until I put it next to the one on my SE Sport. It is also held is in place with 5 bolts and in a similar pattern to the factory one, but doesn't have the stud. You just drill the holes in the trunk lid and bolt it in place. No struts to change out as it is lighter. Then hook up the wires for the lights to the brake light by making a splice connection to the high mount brake light wires. You can either leave the third light or remove it. If you remove it there will be a hole in the package shelf cover where the wires go through.
go have an adult beverage and enjoy the new look.... Oh ya some place along the line in you preparation to do this don't forget to get the spoiler painted to match your car.
