Yea, yea, yea.... I drive a GL with a Zetec as my DD. Great car, but it rumbles down the highway with a lot of interior road noise. If I chose to insulate with Dynamat for road noise killing, where's the prime spots? Under the seats/floor panel? Doors? Any sense in doing the trunk? Under the hood?

Advice please!

I would think under the seats, floor pan and doors would be your best bet. Trunk would probably help also, not sure under the hood would do you any good.

I have installed car stereos profesionally for 8 years the best places to dynamat for your purposes is the door panels, the firewall, the front and rear strut towers (not the most astetically pleasing o. The front strut tower but you would be surprised how much it cuts down noise) and the floorpan in that order. Since dynamat is pretty pricey to waste.

Dampers such as Dynamat will help a bit but to really kill noise you also need to use a noise absorber also. Some people use jute carpet underlay, closed cell foam or MLV ( mass loaded vinyl) oe even rubber mats.

Right now in my trunk, I have Rammat covered with ensolite and then have Ecofoam underneath the factory rug.

Being in Alaska , my guess is Rammat would probably be your cheapest option but you'll still end up spending at least $200. B-Quiet might be a cheaper option. Don't buy original Dynamat its a ripoff , the improved version works well but is expensive.

Best site for info I've found is diymobileaudio.com (although somewhat biased as its sponsor is Second Skin)

Hushmat is the brand I prefer cheaper than dynamat and easier to work with. do not for the love of god by dynamat original! It is absolute garbage. If you can only find dynamat get the "extreme" and wear gloves it is decievingly sharp and will cut you open like a razor blade.
