IO've seen a few similar posts so I thought Id take a shot too. The car is a 98.5 SVT silver over MNB. It has 92000 miles which is pretty good for its age, the car isnt perfect but Ill be willing to bet money its one of the cleanest youll find that has been used as a driver. No rust, dents, door dings, etc. Paint is original and looks great no checking, peeling, etc and shines like new! The inside would be an 9 out of 10, the rear and passenger seats look like new and the drivers seat only shows a small amount of wear, the dash is perfect and the carpets are good and the original mats are in decent shape.

The cars runs great overall, has a bit of a cold start issue that Ill fix before selling, no big deal. No smoke, pulls great, idles good. trans and clutch are original but still strong. The suspension is original and I think the rear springs are sagging, I may replace them before selling too.

The car the original wheel with snows and ST200 wheels with summer tires. The windows have a medium tint and it has an aftermarket stereo, speaker and a small sub/amp. other than a K&N panel filter the car is stock. Ive been offered anywhere from $2500-3100 for trade in, I assume its got to be worth alot more for a private sale?

Pssshhhhhh I'd say at least $20,000 ;) Check kbb.com, they'll give you private seller's value. Also check to see what similar cars are going for on autotrader. You could probably get $6000 - $7000 out of it if you're patient. I do see a lot of svt's with less than 100k sell for under $6000.. If you want to sell it for under $2000 I'll buy it from you lol ;)

go get a KBB value online and expect to get 5-700 bucks less.

even if you sell to someone on this site it doesn't negate the fact that it's still a contour, 8-9 years old and with 90k miles. you haven't mentioned any mods that would increase the value a little bit either.

sucks, but what can you do?

I know all about Edmunds, etc but I was curous what you guys thought it might bring. Id be happy to get $4000 as it sits or $4500 with new rear spring installed and a fresh alignment. Edmunds says $4900 private party value so I guess Im not far off. On the other hand couldnt hurt to keep it until the wheels fall off.

You can probably get $4000. Sometimes you get lucky and can get more than that but sometimes you get unlucky and have to sell for even less.
