So long SVT!!!

Have to agree, but eh this site is kinda bias.

u mean biased. i dunno. most here are pretty honest about their feelings toward other cars. i do like his car, dont get me wrong. was probably better than the svt contour when it came out. problem is when u tell someone u drive a bmw, and they go out to take a look at it, its probably gonna be a look of disappointment that u'll find on their faces. these 90s model bmws don't elicit the same kind of oooohs and aaaahs that they once did. i mean cmon, there've been what... 3, 4 generations after this one?

There are 2 generations including the current generation 3 series after the E36.

That is a nice condition E36, it's a shame you couldn't get the M3 and at a 130K the motor is just getting broken in so 10K for it isn't all that bad. BMW's are not meant to be 1/4mile cars.

I had an E36 BMW with a 5-speed and LSD rear. Fun car to autocross and I enjoyed owning it until I had to fix $omething.
I'd say I liked driving the bimmer better than my SVT. It also felt more stable at 120+ mph than my Contour. FYI - stock speed limiter kicks in at 130 mph.

You people should be ashamed for bashing him on that car!!! A 328is of that vintage IS an M3 without the price tag! That might be my next car actually if I can find a low mileage one. You know how to pick them.

Agreed here.
The car is beautiful. I've always wanted an E36 (and E46) 328i ... Almost bought one in 2005 but wasn't brave enough to try RWD in winter.

You will get slack for owning one though, just like the Contour. Like the others have said, it is the most affordable of BMWs and consequently people will think you bought just for the name. :blackeye:

The 3 series is like the Honda civic of BMW's, Anyone could get one. No offense to you, but The SVT had more power, style, and probably cheaper to fix. I'm glad you like it though. BTW, waht did you do with your SVT?

I disagree on all counts. I've serviced my friend's 98 BMW 323is and it has been less of a hassle than my tour ever was. I was debating picking up at E46 3-series, but I'd rather just have a new car with warranty.

IMO, I would take this over a Contour ANY day of the week.

I could prob agree here with the taking over a contour if it was a stock svt but we are talking a 3l svt. I dont think I would trade my car for one if offered simply because of how non stock my car is now. Idk i might need to go look at some of these cars so dont take my words to heart.

I like that car BUT the rims on it, the 328 is or whatever model they had back in those day's rims would look nicer. Just an opinion.

GL!

thats not the point map. no one's saying the contour is a better car. when they both came out, the bmw was a better car obviously. lemmie ask u this tho. which car has a HELL in chance of picking up an award at a car show stock 4 stock? i'll give u a hint. its not the BMW. the bimmer is a better all around performer. no one will argue that. however, the svt is a car that exists in a niche, with performance and handling close to the bmws...giving it the edge over the german car. (insert sarcasm)besides, didn't they make like 2million of those?

Not a bad car, but honestly, I still enjoy my CSVT more than I enjoy my E46 M3. Sure the M3 is faster, and is quicker around a track etc etc etc. But its still a bit boring. Just something about the CSVT makes it more entertaining to go for a drive in. The M3 certainly has more "stuff" and is more capable, and yet, despite its shortcomings, the CSVT still makes me smile more.

This is why i love CEG, your so biased and i love how people are just bashing the BMW b/c its...well...a BMW. I dont hate the CSVT, i loved that car. I cried when i sold it. THanks for you comments guys:-)
