On the day after Christmas no less, right after finding out I may have a hernia.:blackeye:

I don't know if I can keep the car since I don't know of many jobs in the area that pay me $10 an hour with the awesome benefits I had.
 
No. 2.5 years of service and I was let go.

My department isn't going to be around much longer anyway. CD's are a dieing breed.:blackeye:

They've been getting rid of higher paid people lately in the CD department for crap reasons. God I love PA and how you can get fired for no reason. :mad:
 
I'm thinking of applying at the federal prison that's in my town. Atleast I might have a day shift job for once. :cool:

It's a crappy job, but they pay well and you get federal benefits and retirement, which is awesome. It's kind of like a police officer job, but you have a much higher chance of being attacked. And most cops don't have fecal matter thrown at them on a regular basis...
 
there's more to it than just applying. i took the nys test for state correctional officer. you have to take a civil service exam,than a 1001 question exam,psych. exam,physical exam,and maybe a lie detector test(it's random) the only thing's i have left to do are the physical and psych. test.
 
yeah...def get some unemployment. the federal prison sounds like a good idea too...don't be too afraid. yes it's not the greatest job in the workd, but if my mother can do 20 years on rikers, you can certainly handle a PA jail.
 
must be something about the Christmas season (or maybe just coincidence of year-end financials). One of my friends got laid off too last week.

Sorry to hear - especially in the dead of winter - but you'll find something good.
 
hernia? I've had one...either you got one or you don't, it's pretty obvious.

Sorry about the job...things happen for a reason and maybe this is an opportunity for something better. :)
 
dang that really sucks.. try UPS, they only start pay at 8.50 (part-time, might be 9.00 fulltime), but part-timers get benefits after 90 days along with a .50 cent raise. its not a bad job.. i did 3rd shift 3am-8am, but had to quit because of school. But UPS drivers can get up to 80k a year.. just something to think bout. Hope you find something soon

Yea once you get in the union at UPS, your pretty much set. My dad is always telling my brother to get a job there because of the potential money you can make.
 
Thats not a bad rate for a CD store or merchandiser. 10 bucks! I get 10.5 at circuit city as a firedog instore pc tech! I just killed my availablity to work only saturdays as i found a higher paying or at least more professional job that I will learn something!


By the way I hope everything works out for you! Unemployment does help tho while the search continues!

Well, it wasn't a store, but I assembled the final product that you buy at the store. The machines I was trained to run put it all together for the customers at stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal*Mart, etc.
