Smoker's Package?

I have seen this on a few of our car's window stickers that have been posted now. I have yet to see a contour with an ashtray. Can anyone please please post a pic of theirs?

I would really like to know weather it is worth searching for one or if I should continue molding one myself.
 
It's only a cup style ash tray and lighter that is it for the 98-00.

The pre 98's had an ashtray in the console. This isn't my car but it's the best pic I could find at the moment. the ashtray is to left of the lighter. not sure when it was an option.

That goes into the upgraded cup holder and can be removed when needed. Also if you have multiple cups you can remove the ash cup and use the cup holder. I dont know if the ashes will leak out or not.

anything can happen but the lid does snap closed pretty tight on it. but as noted the cup is moveable to the different cup holders.
 
not sure if it will work, but the housing around the shifter is the same iirc and cup spiller as the cougar, the lighter surround and ashtray also look similar...so maybe look into a 99-02 cougar and grab the necessary parts at the wreckers if you can't find one on a tour.
 
Even if you did get your paws on the "smoker's package" ashtray that goes in the cupholder, in a Contour it would be so far away from you that you'd have to be Inspector Gadget to use it in any meaningful way. Smoke left handed and use the window. :cool:
 
Also, if anyone is interested, the smoker's package retailed for $15. I remember being amused seeing it on window stickers back when I was selling Fords.
 
Walmart sells the same little cup as the 'smokers package' for $3. That is a fairly wrothless ashtray. If I remove it to use the cup holders I have a cup full of ash rolling around my floor.

I feel you on the using the ashtray. I do not use it for butts just ash on windy days or cold ones here in MN.

I'll check the local junkyards and compare, hopefully it would fit. Otherwise I was looking to snatch another console from the junkyard and convert that little pen holder area into the ashtray. I like the shape, but it needs to be a little larger, have a closable top and of course be made of metal. It'll give me something to do this winter while the car is put away.
