hi everyone I have owned my svt for about 5 years now. I love the car. My only issue currently is the fact that i need to have my slave cylinder replaced. I brought it to a local place and they priced the total job at $950.00 That includes all the parts and a new clutch. Is that a decent price for the repair or am i getting :censored::censored::censored::censored:ed over.

Thanks,

Steve

You have to remove the transaxle entirely to replace the slave cylinder. It's a momentous, gargantuan job, with a corresponding gargantuan labour charge.

Sounds about right for a shop rate, to me.

They told me that it is going to take around 15 hours to do. The next thing i want to do is make sure that they are putting in a decent clutch. Any suggestions on what I kind of clutch I should by and where i can get it?

The OEM SVT clutch is awfully good... and very affordable. Steve at Tousley, or Bill Jenkins at TeamFord is the best place to get them.

I just did that very job over the weekend. Ended up pulling the engine tranny combo as I was rounding 2 bolts off on the trans. Very big job for the occasional wrencher. $950 is a great price...your mechanic will be very sorry he took the job!

Get a SVT clutch from Steve Tousley...for under $300 you can't go wrong.

Lol yeah...Do you have a number or email for Steve Tousley? The people that are going to fix my car where talking about use a clutch that they were getting through NAPA. So I told him to find out exactly the brand name of the clutch and then give me a call back.

I was just quoted with 10 hours labor to remove and replace the tranny to the tune of $700. Unless it takes 5 hours to take the slave out and replace it, I think their hours are a little high.

ya im with the others on here if you cant do it on your own and there isnt a local ceger that wants to tackle the job that price including parts is not unreasonable at all.

if you know what your doing you can replace the clutch and tob in 5~6 hours taking the mtx out of drivers side bottom of the car.

as I recall a clutch replacement is at leas 9 hours book time ....

Ya i told them to go ahead and do the job. I am also having them replace the fuel filter, transmission fluid, drive belt, and a tire rotation. Now all i need to do is figure out why there is water leaking into my car. The water drips in right above the the driver side seat. I was thinking about replacing the seal for the sunroof. Any thoughts on that?

check the seals for the door. the sunroof also has four drains, might check those but its more likely its leaking at the door itself.

I hope they change the trans fluid. It's going to drain out then the axles are pulled if they don't drain it in the first place.
