I have a 1998 mystique with a 2.5 auto. It doesnt sound like it wants to shift gears, when out in gear I can drive for about two to three seconds and get up to about 2000-2200 rpms then all of a sudden it drops to like 1000 and wont give any more power until you let off the gas and let it sit for a sec and then push again. I checked the fluid level and its good and the check engine light came on, so I had it read and came up with these two codes: p0750 (Shift A soleniod fault) and p0755 (Shift B soleniod fault). Anybody have any clues as to whats going on. I should add in that the speedometer doesnt work either. Please someone help out I need this fixed so I can drive!

This has happened to several folks. Not totally uncommon with the CD4E. If I remember it is caused by a faulty transmisson speed sensor.

I suggest you do a search on the general problem and I am sure you will find the answer.

Merry Christmas,

Speedometer issue, change the (VSS) vehicle speed sensor and then change the ATFluid.

As for the other two codes, if changing the VSS does not take care of it, you may need a tranny rebuild.

I looked under the car to find the vss sensor, but where i saw it in the picture (Just behind the pas. driveshaft and to the passenger side of the filler tube) All i have there is a white cap. Where is the vss sensor if i have one and how do i fix this problem. I see no extra wires that would go to that area so whats going on.

I should add that everything is a 98 except for the engine/trans/engine wiring harness, those three are from a 99. Is there a difference between 98 and 99, does the 99 not have a vss sensor.
