The old forums are down - I have some difficulty getting into 2nd gear under heavy load/high rpm. Ford honey in the trans, none of my gears grind and I'm sure it is just an adjustment issue. I have solid front and rear roll resistors and that has helped - just looking for some help in the adjustment. I've heard there is some tool that Ford uses in the car - is that needed?

After using the tool myself, I'd say you really don't need it. Just unlock the end of the shift cable, center the shifter and lock the ends. If it's not right, do it again.

The tool just fits at the bottom of the shifter to ensure it's centered.

Oh - so if I wanted some more pull on the lower gates I'd pull back on the shifter slightly and leave the tower centered and lock up the cables. That should create more tension for 2nd - but I have to get it just right so 1, 3 or 5th won't be an issue getting in and out of...

Eurotour and I have it down to a science now. Have to make sure it doesn't bang going into 4th. We just remove the driver wheel and adjust the white end as he sits inside. I push in the tab so it releases while he holds in neutral. I release it and he rows through the gears. If it doesn't feel right we just adjust it a couple teeth.

Huh - I guess I don't know what to expect because I've never really looked at the cable ends closely before..

I can do adjustments at SZ. Cost: A beer.

Wish I was going again this year - but I'm in the middle of a complete drivetrain swap in my 4x4 in prep for a big wheeling event... No money left to eat - let alone the price of heading out to SZ.

Actually, I personally like to use the tool. This way you know its in the center.
Just undo the orange tabs on the cable ends, slip the tool in the shifter, push the orange things back in and you have a perfectly aligned shifter in 2 minutes :)

Trust me, people will borrow it left and right to you. I am bringing mine to SZ because a few people asked if they could use it there.

Wish I was going to SZ - your car looked sweet at the show and shine. I've still got my "speed hole" in the front bumper... I really gota fix that..

You should come man, I'm not driving out there but my car will be out there. It should still be a good time. Im sure there are a few people in MN you could hitch a ride with if you wanted to come :)

I'll see how things go - if there is time I'd love to go. I'm sure I could snag a ride out there with a buddy if possible.
