I am in the process of gathering the parts and need a complete list of what I need. Right now I have a cheap ebay intake setup... I know this much so far: SVT UIM, SVT LIM, SVT MAF, SVT throttle body, SVT throttle cable. Will I need all the gaskets? Which ones are they? Do I need the SVT injectors? I have a returnless style fuel rail. What do I need to do about that? Do I need to get a larger diameter air intake? Right now I have the UIM the MAF and the injectors. In shipping the black dial looking thing (IAC maybe) got broken off and busted in half... can I just use the one I have on my regular 2.5? When I put these parts on the regular 2.5 will I have to get XCAL or something to change the computer, or will it automatically adjust to the changes after the OBD II cycles? Once I have all the parts, how long can I expect this to take if all goes well (which it never does for me...) Sorry for so many questions. Maybe someone that has done the conversion can get ahold of me or help me out.

Okay well, you're basically just getting SOME SVT parts, the entire svt switch requires cam shafts, pre-cats, etc. What you're better off doing (financially and time wise) is either go for a 3L, or basically go with the SVT UIM LIM and TB (get the gaskets, part number is in FAQ for Maintenence), you can use your injectors because they're the same. Your eBay filter should be fine, I assume it's the bomz, maybe you can upgrade to the K&N3530 or the KKM full CAI, but for now you're okay. Make sure you follow the maintenece FAQ to fully clean the SVT UIM and LIM so its pristine. Gut your PRE-CATS, and do all the bolt on mods instead and then you're good to go. Should net you about 190WHP, so on paper that'd be maybe 200hp :s I dunno but 190WHP is pretty good.

I dont think the SVT had different pre-cats, it does have different injectors. The SVT has 19lb injectors, SE's and the rest of the duratec's in the contour's have 17lb injectors.

Swap to the SVT LIM, UIM, TB, cat-back exhaust, upgrade the brakes to 278mm or more and then get a good tune for premium fuel, and that will get you pretty dang close to a SVT. Then you could do suspension, body work, oil cooler, larger radiator, stab-o-shock, and gauge cluster for the total SVT makeover

since I just did this

UIM
LIM
TB and bracket
tb cable
intake accordian tube unless you use something else
all gaskets, see cleaning/rebuild faq
main cat
exhaust

injectors are optional and if you use them you will need to tune the car or it will run rich

exhaust manifolds are the same, you can get a pair of msds headers for $200, coating and extras cost more

otherwise rkneeshaw is right on

Ok right now I have the UIM, the maf, bat sport kit, msds coated y pipe... need to get big brakes, LIM, TB, accordion tube. In have the 19lb injectors, but seems like a pain to get them to work properly. Plus I'm in ohio... where can I get a tune?

The only way to convert to an SVT is to sell the SE and buy an SVT. Period.

You could throw in a complete SVT engine but like already stated throwing in a 3L is a much better option. (cheaper and 30 more TQ out of the box) Also if you did the SVT 2.5L you still would not be remotely close to SVT specs. Radiator, oil cooler, injectors, PCM, roll resistors, suspension, brakes, et cetera...

Greg is right. At this day and age, SVTs are cheap to pick up. You would be better off just buying one if you wanted everything an SVT has right down to the badging. It would be cheaper just buying an SVT.

So true... : ( well I have this stuff... might as well put it on now. Just figuring out what I need. Not trying to have an SVT really... Just trying to help my se out a little. If the engine blew tomorrow, you better believe I would get a 3,0 in there : )
