My car has had idle problems for about 6 months now. I finally got around to replacing the IAC valve (long story) but that didn't do a think. If I'm driving normally and go to shift at 4000rpm or so, when I hit the clutch and let off the gas, the RPMs stay at 4000. If I bump the gas and rev it to 5000 or so, they'll stay up there until I let the clutch out. The idle sits at about 1750-2000 all of the time, and my gas milage is horrible...like 10-15 mpg.

The only CEL I have right now is for a bad TPS, but that's my fault and unrelated.

What am I looking for here? Vacuum leak?

You can see it in this video. When I hit the clutch, I let off of the gas completely, but the revs stay high.

DEFINITELY THE TPS. I had this same issue accept it became dangerous. My car would throw a CEL and begin to accelerate on its own!! It turned out that the wires for the TPS (I have a 95 with a couple fraying wires but luckily a BRAND NEW underhood harness.) were shorting and simulating a wide-open throttle to the PCM. Then PCM doesn't set the IAC if the throttle is wide open??? Fix it and let us know if you succeed.

outta curiousity, where did u come up with the "fact" that those symptoms of urs have absolutely nothing to do with a TPS:shrug:? i had the same problem for a long time. just for kicks, i changed the tps and iat. problem solved. not exactly sure which did it tho. i guess i could've replaced one after another.

I was adjusting the tension on the throttle shaft and lost grip on it when it was inserted into the TPS, causing the TPS to spin beyond its stop point. As soon as I plugged it back in, I got a P0122: Throttle Position Sensor circuit Low Input. That was the first time I'd ever had that CEL, but I've had the idle problems and IAC CEL since last March.

Since installing the new IAC, it's gotten much much worse. The revs not only don't go down, but they climb in between shifts. It could be TPS related, I'm not sure though.
