Saratoga Springs, NY Meet

I think you need to start a new thread to make a poll.
I'm available for all three dates.
The 28th would interrupt the Canobie Lake Park meet though.

then the 11th would be the better choice, lets try not to overlap meets incase someone wants to go to both of them ...

Don't work around the 28th just because of my stupid amusement park thing.
I don't expect many to come due to location anyway.

Ok, right. I'll go with July 11th then. My roof is getting repainted the 9th so it should be done just in time.

Since it's quite a drive for most people, we could probably book a few camping sites and maybe do an overnight meet. At least into the evening with a campfire and cooking stuff and everything. Alcohol cannot be brought into the picnic areas, but can be brought into the campsites. They do ID when you check in, and will stamp your site registration with "UNDER 21, NO ALCOHOL" if you're under 21. They allow 6 people, 4 cars and 2 tents max per campsite. Last time I was there, I think it was $20 for one night for a campsite, and that includes park admission, which is $8.

Date change to July 11th seems to be more doable for us. I'll have to talk to Mike about it more, but I'd love to go. I like to go camping at least once every year, so this would be a good opportunity.

I want to be clear on the under 21 rule. Say a couple of parents 30 years old book a site and bring their two kids along (both underaged), do all four of them get ID'd and then the site is stamped as "under 21"?
I'm just thinking, depending on our numbers, if only the over 21 people book the campsites, and anyone coming with counts as our dependents. lol
Stupid minors ruining mah drinkin' fun.

I think the only time a site gets labeled as under 21 is if everyone there is under 21. Then the rangers pay more attention to those sites. I have been IDed once in my campsite for having a beer... they're pretty strict.

The meet is moved back to Saratoga Spa State Park... my reccomendation is go to Moreau, book the site (park admission is included in the site fee), then come back down to Saratoga and use the admission ticket for the Saratoga Park.

So disregard post 36 about Moreau...

Saratoga State Park is off Exit 13N on I-87 (it's labeled on the sign). The park is about 5 miles up the road from I-87.

Can you please make a full summary of the meet in your original post (#1) ? It's easier to disregard misinformation that way. :)

Will do.

I think I'll be detailing the car alongside hanging out. I haven't waxed the SVT .. ever. Brian would be ashamed

Um .. I just realized. I won't be able to make July 11, as it is a Friday. I can do Saturday July 12, is that what you meant?

Crap, you're right, July 12th. I can't imagine why I said the 11th.

I forgot to ask... any vegetarians/vegans coming? I planned mostly on meat, chicken/hot dogs/hamburgers, but can get some veggie burgers if necessary. And any allergies I need to watch out for? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to disclose that in this thread. I've got enough medical equipment in my trunk to treat you if you stop breathing, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Matt, did you already book a camp site?

If not, then I think we need to make an official list of people that are definitely attending and camping, so we can determine if more than one site is needed.

edit: looks like it'll be a 3.5 hour drive for Mike and I to get to Moreau if we take Rt 4 through VT (groan), but that is the fastest route I've come up with.

Not sure yet if we want to set up camp first, then head down to Saratoga, or what.

I don't think I'll be camping, it's easier for me just to drive home.

If you're coming down from the north, it'll probably be easier to check in to the campsite first, then head down... plus you'll get the pass with the campsite to get in to any park for the day, so that'll save you $8 in Saratoga. I'd set up the campsite first before coming down... mainly because it gets darker earlier in the woods. You'd have to leave Saratoga at like 5pm to set up in time. And it's much easier to just come back to the site, eat, and go to bed, instead of setting it all up.

So people I'm pretty sure are going:

Me/gf
Kim/Mike
Brian/Jess
Ian
Brian
Matt
Chris
