Roof Mounted Bike Racks

OMG I'm sorry, but I don't like you.. or anyone who does it for the look for that matter. I instantly get angry at people who do it for the look :nonono:. Every time I see some doucher with it I wanna punch them square in the mouth.

Hahahaha well, I wanted to have a use for it, because I wanted to be able to take my bike to Atlanta with me, buuuutttttt, there no longer is a bike.

i have used mine to haul stuff...so not "just" for looks!

to keep on topic and offer insight to the post instead of just posting an opinion like some people do...there are multiple different companies you could go with...i have a yakima but thule is basically the same thing. they are the two bigger manufacturers of racks. i did a little searching for you and what you need (as far as yakima goes) are some bars, you will need to measure your roof to determine the width of bars you will need, the Q towers, and the correct Q clips to fit your paticular application. for contours you will need the yakima Q clip 40.

Then good for you. You use it for other purposes. Soooo many people get it just for the looks... they are douchers. Just my opinion and I'm entitled to it. Rexx, you can get it if you want, I'm not gonna stop you, I just hate people that get it just for the look. I'm not hating on the Thule/Yakima roof rack though.

Oh and Chris, your car looks nice!

why does everyone love filling up each thread with a bunch of bs? the guy just wants pics of roof racks, which i wouldnt mind seeing either since ive been thinking about it too since i haul ski equipment and bikes all the time. so if you got a pic of a CSVT with a rack post em! and btw that vw is sick!

yakima is the only one that makes a "fit kit" for the contour/mystique. so one has to use the yakima towers, clips and cross bar. from there you can use either yakima or thule parts. I had a full thule roof rack for my tempo. so I picked up a yakima setup from another member here and then used the thule fairing and bike trays that I had to make it all work.

I know its hard to see but its the only picture i know I have online.

There was a silver svt with a roof rack that submitted a winter picture for the calender 3 years ago.

How about a trailer hitch rack?

How about a trailer hitch rack?

If you don't mind messing up the purty skirt in the back, stick on a hitch and get a bike rack to slide into it. I have one on my turd and love it over a roof rack. The trunk still opens with it in place, it carries the bikes mostly out of the fuel mileage sucking wind and comes off quickly when I am done. It also eliminates the likelihood that you will forget the bikes are on the top and drive into the bike removing carport or garage.

A slight mod and I can carry my snowboard when the conditions are good and my skis when the conditions are not so good.

Nope. Roof only. Looks better in my opinion plus I don't want a hitch on my car
