Replacement screw covers - panel between windshield and hood?

Has anyone come up with anything to replace the screw covers on the panel between the windshield and the hood? Lube place broke the two on the cabin air filter side and I broke the other two trying to remove them without breaking them to see if it could be done (apparently it can't).
 
I got mine at the stealership. I think they were a buck a piece, which really isnt too bad if you think about. At least they are new.

Recently? I thought they were NLA. Don't happen to have a part number, do you?

The used ones....I got the impression the majority will break on removal.

I don't think I've ever come across a broken one. I don't even see how you could break them. :shrug:

The only reason people need them is because they get removed for work on the car and end up losing a few.

Maybe they're a tight fit and get brittle with age? I threw a bit of a pissy fit when the lube place broke the two on the one side of the car. But then I broke the two on the other side whilst prying them off. Just the cap of each came away leaving the rest still attached to the screw heads.

Wierd. It makes sense though, but I've yet to see that happen and I've removed them on a couple of different Contiques plenty of times.
 
Just wanted to come back on and say that I found some plastic screw covers at Home Depot that work really well. They are in the pull-out drawers for the specialty hardware (metric stuff, fiber and rubber washers, etc...). The size is #6 and there are three to a packet for like $0.65.

You basically leave the bottom part (the seat) of the old screw cover in place and put these on top. They sit a little high like this and I suppose, if you're a bit anal, you could sand a smidge off the original seat so they fit more flush with the panel edge. I'm not sure if you can do away with the original seat altogether because it seems to act like a bushing of sorts for the screws.

The Ford Part Number is W701223-S300 and it is called a CAP. They come 5 to the package and cost about $7.00 with tax. They snap down over the top of the cowl screws and you need to be careful that they are fully on. Otherwise, they blow off when you are driving down the road. They deteriorate rather quickly, due to degradation from sun, rain, and cold, and become stiff and stick to the screw, leading to a broken cap when you try to remove them.
