removing shifter

Ok I searched how to remove the white plastic clip on the shifter and got that off, now I'm stuck with the rod below holding the shifter from comming off. I try prying it but nothing, any help is apreciate it
 
are you talking about the shift cable end that clips to the bottom of the shift lever inside the car? if so, on the later ones there is a button facing the drivers side. push in on the button and pull/pry off the cable.
