Completely ignore that step.

It is intended only for shops that have an exhaust system that "sucks" the exhaust out of the tailpipe and properly vents it outside the shop.

If such a system were left attached to the vehicle during certain types of testing, the forced vacuum on the exhaust will interfere with the diagnostics, hence the instructions in the manual.

Start over by posting your DTC. Chances are, it's one of the very common ones that you can easily read up by using the DTC as your SEARCH argument and you can easily find out what needs to be done with only a few minutes reSEARCH.

OBD 1 code 336

OBD 1 code 336

this is the first step under the DTC for 336 to remove the garage forced ventilation system and retest

DPFE sensor has been changed, still have same problem ( these parts have been replaced EVR, DPFE, EGR, EGR tube cleaning, vacuum check for exhaust restriction, however now I have a 172 & 335 for KOEO and still the 336 for KOER, I did a diagnostic ck while driving and found that the car stays in open loop all the time so I changed out the 02 sensor thinking that would take care of the 172 and still have all the same codes, anyone know why the car is staying in open loop all the time, what could be causing this, I will hit the books and see what info I can find, any help would greatly be appreciated
