I used black caliper paint on the rear drums on the Escape. Drums don't get nearly as hot as rotors. I painted them about two years ago and they still look great.

Yeah, and on drums IMO, they shouldn't be painted any other color than black.
They stand out like crazy in other colors on the cars I've seen. Looks odd.

Actually a bright aluminum silver looks nice. Stay away from fruity or bright colours like red, yellow, blue even... black is one of the best ways to go however.

Do the front calipers in colour, but just black on the drums. They're ugly, don't make them stand out!

I love it how ricers paint them yellow... it's pretty much saying "hey, look at my low end car that I think is fast!" to me...

I use rotor/drum paint from the Eastwood company. Looks good and it lasts.

Any high temp paint should last as long as you prep it correctly.
I painted my drums with high temp paint back in the begining of summer. Took a long time to get rid of rust, but they came out great and I have had no problems with them yet. But we'll see after winter.

did you paint it while it was on the car, or did you have to remove it?

You can paint them on the car.....just make sure to tape off anything you don't want overspray to get on.

Never used primer.
