Rear Doors hinge sucks!

Wondered if anyone could shed any light on this.

My rear doors don't get much love and are hardly ever used. Lately they've been a pain to open and screech like crazy.

I drenched the hinges with a lubricant specifically made for hinges, bearings, etc. and it did absolutely nothing. They still squeek and feel like crap.

Do I need to take the door off the hinge and grease something farther inside?

I know nothing about door hinges

It may help to grease the check straps. I use marine grease.

Yes. And if you don't have this, WD-40 will work too. But you need to do it to the check straps, not just the hinges. And after that, the door needs to be opened and shut often or it will revert to the awful, metal on metal sound again. It started happening to my rear doors after 3 years. Yes, my rear doors are seldom opened.

What are the check straps, the piece in the middle that slides in and out of the door?

Just relubed everything up today and those middle pieces are what's scraping on both back doors. WD-40 did wonders for my door handles, but barely helped the creeking and toughness of the doors. I'm thinking I need a thicker oil, maybe I'll just pop that piece off and see what the problem is ;)

Thanks guys.

Correct.

Did you lube the underside of the check straps too? That was the issue with mine.;)

Edit. Autozone link has Figure 1 showing check strap in between the door stop arms (the "L" anchors).

Just to make sure I went and lubed up the bottom portion and swiveled the door back and forth a couple times and it really does feel a lot better and squeaks half as much, but they still aren't like the front doors at all. They still feel pretty rough. Maybe I'll get the marine grease
