Quieting down exhaust using cat

Hey all,

I've got an unorthodox thought. My 3" SS Trubendz is "tru"ly too loud, even with a turbo. Rather than cut here/there and weld-in new mufflers (two were already added after the Y), what's the opinion on adding a restrictive Catalytic convertor (e.g. 2.5" cat) instead to quiet it down?

My thought was that it would be easy to add one where one ought to be anyway AND would be as easy as deleting a resonator should I ever crave the performance of a 3" straight through cat-less exhaust in the future.

TIA!

I'm not sure about the v6 model, but turbocharging applications should apply. The added restriction should affect the spool rate of the turbo. I run the cat on mine and the HP difference is roughly 7 but the spool rate difference is a few hundred.
