Question on Wiring Sidemarkers

Hey guys, I'm trying to wire my sidemarkers for running lights and turn signals.

I could get turn signal flash but could not get the running lights. My main turn signal up front would turn on and dim down to nothing. Not sure if the resistor just ate all the current and neither could stay lit. Am I simply missing a diode before the resistor? Or do I want diodes on both sides?

Ended up wiring (3) 10 watt 100ohm resistors in series and the running lights still aren't as dim as I'd like. LED's are crazy.

I'm sure there's better ways to do it.. these resistors are gigantic

I didn't think that LEDS would work like that with resistors. The side marker instructions where specifically for incodecent bulbs.
