Project - Tummy Tuck -

IMO, it doesnt flow with the car. the crease is too tight/harsh i think.

I generally agree, but in this case I think the straight look compliments the bagged drop very well.

Amazing work! It's great to see superior craftsmanship applied to a Contour.

it looks...better from the side. although it also makes it obvious the difficulties you had trying to line up the creases in the front bumper with the ST24 bumper.

so, i still say, great craftsmanship on the skirts, but it just doesnt look right on the car.

stop saying it doesnt look right, honestly, do you even understand the work he put into this, it looks absolutly amazing! and flows perfectly with the car, if you havent seen it in person then dont critisize. B it looks amazing! good job and i love the new eye lids

I do understand the work, notice i didnt criticize his work, i even said it was great work.

Honestly, do you understand that most of us are hundreds of miles away? as such most of the people on here havent seen, and never will see it in person and all we have to go on is the pics. based on those pics, we have to make a decision on whether we think it looks good and flows with the car. IMO it doesnt flow with the car BASED ON THE COMPELTED PICS POSTED SO FAR. the crease just looks to be too harsh, and maybe that has to do with the lighting, but until more pictures with different lighting are posted, my opinion stands as it is currently.

I agree.

yeah, the workmanship is to notch...but, even while the body lines of the contour are relatively straight on the doors...the front and rear bumpers are not. and, imo, the stock sideskirts take this into account whereas these do not. it doesn't look bad...but it doesn't really flow with the car either.

the whole "you haven't seen it in person" argument is bunk...dudes in minnesota...99% of people here are never going to see it in person.

If you don't want criticism, then don't post pics! I think Fat_Guy and Tricker are becoming to CrazyTalk, what AliasJerk was to Bagged. I'm pretty sure CrazyTalk can defend himself to the world of the internet.

Come on guys! It's just a car.....a Contour none the less, so lets try and lighten the mood a bit. My car will not appeal to everyone regardless of the time spent on it and that's just the breaks of it all. While I'm slightly confused on what the "crease" is, I really don't see the need to bicker over someone's opinion...but that doesn't mean I don't frown upon antagonizing posts against those who have seen it, liked it, and are sticking up for it.
I'm assuming the "crease" means the radius of the curved face on the side skirts, but still am unclear and I'm not here to try and change anybody's mind about it. I will add that I used a cardboard template cut from the OEM skirts as well as using the curved section of the OEM skirt as a buck to make up the radius of mine. It's very close, but it is slightly more gradual of a radius because it's hard to roll as tight a radius as the OEMs had that close to a break line(bend line) in the sheet. Which should explain my confusion. I'm hearing it's "too harsh" or "sharp", but the measurements and templates say its a softer curve.

Again, I'm not here to change anybody's mind which is why this will be my last post regarding the matter. After completion of the Project - Face Lift -, striker2 was the first to say he didn't like it and now he can proudly say he is the first to do the same again here. I've grown tired of the "flawless work, but it still sucks" comments and don't see the need to stick up for myself anymore. I thank everyone for their criticism, whether it's good, middle of the road/on the fence, or bad(even those who my car just doesn't appeal to like striker2). I welcome more of it so hopefully it will continue, but in a light hearted manner. I also thank those who just came on this thread to check it out or periodically checked for progress. Lastly, I thank those who came and/or went out of their way to go to CC Summer Nationals to see the finished product. I apologize if I wasn't around to talk to you or answer any of your questions.

This concludes my rant for the day

I should probably add that I could very well be misreading striker2's comments or interpreting them wrong. So if that's the case...sorry dude.

in the 2 pictures of the finished car posted in this thread it appears that the side skirts have crease or harsh bend in them right in the middle (where the bright spot is all the way down the middle of them). I did note that it might be due to the lighting, and after looking at the pictures from your other thread, it seems that the lighting is indeed the cause, as they do look like a softer smooth curve in those pictures (and as you just pointed out the curve is smooth and actually softer than stock).

I never said that any of the things you have done have sucked, just that based on the pictures posted, at the time of my posting, something didnt seem to flow quite right with the rest of the car. In fact, since seeing the other new pics in your other thread of the new skirts, i have since changed my mind as in those pics they do seem to flow with the car and look quite good (i still think they look strange in the 2 pics in this thread though but that is due to the lighting).

I also dont understand your complaint about the "flawless work, but it doesnt look right with the car". Ive seen your in progress pictures and completed pictures of some of your projects and not only do i admire your work, im envious of your skills. of course, there are plenty of people with great skills, but just because they have the skills doesnt mean everything they do turns out to look great. in this case, the skirts did indeed turn out to look good and what i thought was a flaw was really a lighting issue with the only pictures i had to base my opinion on.

edit: I do love your car, and like i said, im completely envious of your skills. my original comments were based on the 2 pics posted and how they looked strange and not right, in this case due to lighting. in short, your car is awesome, and your skills are awesome. great work.:cool:

Well I'm glad we got that cleared up. Internet forum posts just like text messages can be interpreted wrong. My bad for jumping the gun and picking you out of the bunch. Sorry.

I'm glad you like it now that you have seen other angles, but even if you didn't like it so much that would be ok too. I'm just glad I'm pickin' up what you're puttin' down now.

yeah, i understand the wrong interpretation problem. been there before. its no problem though, it happens.
