Project - Tummy Tuck -

I've been calling these "bump stops", but they are more of a small skid plate so in case I'm on uneven ground I don't completely screw the entire bottom of the side skirt up.

They are welded with Silicon Bronze filler rod for those curious about the golden color. The bronze rod is soft and has a low melting point which allows you to weld a longer distance on thinner material with less distortion.

Not to be a nitpicker, but technically the stock look was a tummy tuck. This is more of a taking the belt off to let the gut free.

The craftsmanship looks top notch dude! They should look pretty damn good when they're on the car.

True on all points but the belt comment is why I'm quoting. LOL

If you guys would have read the OP you would see that I beat you all to the punch and nitpicked my own thread from the get go. Pay attention!! :P

nice. i like it. looks skinnier than a stock skirt. by the way, how much weight exactly are these adding to ur car?

Looks are kind of deceiving. I didn't measure it, but just by looking at one side by side with a factory skirt you can see the difference. As for the weight, probably not all that much even though I have been making wise cracks that my HP/Weight ratio is going to suck. Then again, I've always been low and slow so never been overly concerned about saving weight.
Remember, I removed the factory rocker which shed a little weight and they are made from 18ga...I guess if I had to take a stab at the weight added I would say maybe 2lbs per side.

to prevent the rust starting again, might wanna spray a light coating of etch on them.

Wouldn't matter if they did. Media blasting cars is another side of my business. If I wanted I can just blast them again....and again...and again.... ;)
However, since you did mention it, I epoxy primed the backside and epoxy primed, basecoat, and cleared the inside to prevent them from rotting from the inside out:

How heavy are those?

i asked him that on the previous page.

My work is complete. The car is leaving for paint. :D

Welding in the jams was very difficult because there is no getting behind the seam to aid with panel alignment and metal bumping/finishing afterwards. Did the best I could:

The fender to side skirt transition is one of my favorite parts. In the midst of the excitement I must have forgotten to get a picture of the front fender reworking I did (will have to get later on), but I did capture the rear transition:

I'm very pleased with the end result and hope you guys feel the same!!

Paint finish pictures will take a couple weeks. I'll update ASAP.

As I said the other night B, looking pretty damn good! You may end up making it to CC summer nat's after all if Roger can finish it by next weekend. However you can not rush perfection ;)

Thanks man! Yeah, he said he would see what he could do. He thought that making it by friday might be iffy...Saturday seemed easier. All I can do at this point is wait and hope for the best.

Nice work. Are you just shooting the car OEM black again or do you have a special color in mind?

Looks great

Thanks dude! Might be time for that thing that starts with an R and ends with a G...then again...I dunno, needs more stuff done for that. ;)

I was asked the same thing at the paint shop. To me, the car has always been black and I never really gave another color a second thought. I hate cleaning it, but love the way it looks when it's clean. For the time being, black is just easier. :)
