understood, but even in his original post he asks why did ford put a kick up there. well, i'm sure it had to do with ground clearance. i know i scraped the stock sideskirts even with stock suspension in the middle.

that being said, can't wait to see how it comes out...
 
Here is some work on the inside panel. This piece welds to the factory pinch weld under the car and the bottom base of the main profile curved pieces. It also is what caps the backside of the side skirt.

So here is the seam of the two pieces to be butt welded. No gaps in the seam and fusion tacked together:

Then this is the majority of the seam welded, the proud area of the weld knocked down, along with some hammer/dolly work. Few more steps in knocking the rest of the proud area down and some lows to contend with, but overall getting close:

Then this is the seam metal finished out minus a small area in the channel. At the time I left that small area unfinished so you could see it is still the same seam and not me cheating by moving down the panel and taking a picture of another area:

Quite a series of brakes to make so things would line up properly underneath. Definitely a fun piece to make. :cool:
 
I seriously need to see this car in person. Would you be interested in bringing it up to Duluth this summer sometime?
 
This is kind of a worthless update because I just noticed one of my pictures grew legs and took off somewhere. Oh well, I'll just have to photoshop something new later. :laugh: When I figure out where it went, I'll just edit this post.

:) these guys dont know just how good B is at this stuff. this isnt really a full showing of what he can do. i dont like to toot his horn, i just see it and its nicer than you guys even know. i wish i could afford to have him work on my car!

on a totally unrelated topic, B..... i had to pull the engine back out of the malibu and swap oil pans, it rubbed on the steering. i got it swapped back in today and everything is bolted up. the crossmember held up pretty well, i did put a few scratches in the paint where the trans mount sits on it, but all in all it looks great, thanks again!

my uncle may still want a torque brace made. something simple with a heim on each end tying the block to the frame obviously. he will pay you whatever it takes of course, he's not a lowballin bastard like me :D

Thanks for the kind words dude! I wish I knew where my other pictures went....? Oh well. I got more coming soon.

So did you get it all squared away then? Motor back in with no rub? When you guys get it up and runnin', swing it by the shop so we can take a look at the best place to mount a torque bar. You've never lowballed me...you over paid me for that blasting I did on that motor mount and coolant tube, but my old man taught me to never look a gift horse in the mouth. :laugh:

yeah its bolted up with no rub, headers installed, fuel system done. i have to get the coolant hoses and a vaccum line for the trans modulator, tune the carb, time it, and bolt up the exhaust to the headers. thats about it. and adjust the shifter cable and make sure its all working right. a few fluids, another good once over, and its ready to fire.
