Hey guys...
I have some problems with my cougar (its 99 V6 I did a ATX-> MTX swap)!!
Anyone that can help will be awarded with:
$100 cash and a reman Alternator for a 6 cylinder from Autozone (cost like $185 with core) never installed just sitting in my attic!

Problems:
(Electrical)
-For some reason I dont have brake lights!!
-My AC/Heat does not work (but im going to get a put a new blower motor to see what happens)
-My car lighter does not work at all
-If I have my headlights on and put my rear wiper on...the car shuts off
-As you all know to start a manual you have to step on the clutch pedal...but for my car I dont have to step on anything to start the car..or..if I step on the clutch i have to step on my brake pedal to start the car!

I think the electrical problems are related but I really dont know!!

I'll drive to anyone/everywhere that can help me!!!

thanks for looking

Will

some of the issues sound easy to fix...sound being the key word. lol
maybe a new steering wheel stalk for the wipers...brake sensor at the end of the pedal for the no brake lights problem...are you still running the atx ecu? sounds like a the clutch disengage switch..

First things first, check all fuses, may sound dumb, but do it. Also the clutch thing is the Neutral Safety Switch which I'm guessing you didn't install when you swapped the ATX for the MTX, though I don't know about the ATX cars, I would say that having to step on the brakes to start sounds like there is a type of NSS used for the ATX and that if you swapped that with the NSS from a manual, it would probably become the normal press in clutch to start procedure.

How's your headlight switch? My brother has a coog and it started having a weird problem one day in that his fogs wouldn't turn on no matter what, shortly after the rear driving lights went out, the brake and turn signal function on them was fine and so were the bulbs, but with the lights on, the tailights wouldn't illuminate unless turning or braking. Turned out to be a bad headlight switch. The HL switch is a bit pricey, but I've heard it's a common problem. Hope any of that helps you, good luck fixing it, electrical problems are the worst to track down.

Honestly, I have already checked all of this stuff for him. All the "simple" fixes do not work. swapped all kinds of sensors, switches, etc... and nothing!

I did the atx-mtx swap, and he is using an MTX ecu and harness for the engine. AND everything worked fine until soon after the swap, when he switched out some of the interior parts like the carpet...

I traced all of the confused circuits to the 2 main wire connectors on the back of the in-car fuse box... they all seem to be related in one way or another... just couldn't find where the problem starts. even swapped fuse boxes, and nothing.

Good Luck to anyone that takes a look at this Cougar. I don't know an extreme amount about electrical systems, so if you know anything about testing circuits and looking for bad grounds, etc... please help Will out! :)

I saw Will like a couple days ago riding on 1 & 9! I saw his interior and I was like I hope everything got repaired!!!! But ehh didnt work out I guess! Best Of luck Electric problems SUCK!!!
