Pre98 Console... Does it have a *useable* armrest?

I'm considering the pre98 console switch this summer. My main concern/question is if the arm rest actually works as an armrest. The 98+ armrest is damn near on the floor and completely useless to me (+ the wife HATES it).
I was browsing pics, but I cannot find one that shows where the armrest sits in reference to the seat! :blackeye:
Thanks,

i have two 95's and put a post 98 console + front seat in one (seat for the armrest of course) and prefer the original 95 console armrest height better for me, but of course it's stationary and doesn't move with the seat. i think the post 98 way is too high. the thing is everyone is different and will have differing opinions. for me the pre-98 is more comfortable though. find a used one for sale local to you and go sit in it and see if you like it.

Yup I did the swap in my 98 svt and love the way the arm rest is higher and easier to "rest" my arm on, I think this is a must do mod for a dd contour.

That's what mine is, and that is *exactly* why I'm looking into it! Plus I have a little case of the dash warp, so I'm thinking of getting the 98 for that as well. I just have to gather my parts list, and take a couple days off work!!

Yes the armest is very useable on a pre-98 console I put one in my CSVT the only thing I don't like is how deep the little storage area is in it but I've got plans for that already

dont know if this helps but here is a pic of mine. kinda wrong angle but it might help. also functional cupholders!

It's a sad day when the cupholders out of a Gen2 Taurus are an upgrade...:)
