Pre98 Center Console, finally installed in my SVT.

I still can't believe you guys do this swap for an armrest. I want to do for an ASHTRAY, but every single one I have ever found has both cup holder busted.

It's not just for the armrest, though that's a major reason, but also because it looks more connected to the dash since it flows up into the dash. The 98+ console looks like it was stuck there just for the cup holders. IMO, unless the cup holder inserts were installed, the cup holders really weren't any better than the Cougar and Pre98 cup holders. Besides, no one is allowed to eat or drink in my SVT. :D

Looks great, and ^^ This is the truth!! I did it for the arm rest as well as those sucky cupholders wern't worth JACK anyway. Now I have only one cupholder that isn't worth JACK! :D
I did something similar to Mike's arm rest cover. I had mine covered in leather from a seat back though!

Personally I like my Pre-98 cupholder setup better. I have the updated single large cupholder and I can easily hold anything in there. Never had a problem with it. The early single/double "can" holders were worthless. I couldn't fit anything I tried to put in there.

When I had the updated cupholders in the 98+ console, I was using the factory ashtray on the left for change, which only allowed a single cup holder anyways. It was no loss for me switching to Pre-98 and I gained an armrest.

If I can't get the OEM screw caps, I'm going to try these and paint them with my remaining Alchemy paint. Bases have to be purchased too.

Just want to give out a big Thanks to Aaron88 for finding me 6 screw caps. Can't wait for them to arrive in the mail, paint and install them. I'll post up final pics once completed. Thanks again Aaron.

Looks great Chris, factory fresh! :D

Just out of curiosity, how far off was the shade of blue of the caps that I sent compared to after you painted them? I'm thinking that because they came out of a pre-98 with an Atlantis blue interior they were a shade too light.

The Atlantis blue is close, a shade lighter than the midnight blue. Midnight blue has that bit of purple to them so the "hue" was different too. All looks great now. Thanks.
