well it may be the most frustrating thing ive tried to do.i got it in the car but now screwed in cause it done line up right at all and im missing the piece between the hvac and the console part that lil trim piece that hides the gap. second of all i have no mounting hardware except wat i had from the console before.i think ill be able to figure it out in the am but i got a quick question that could save me a trip to the yard.. will napa sell those little metal clips that the screws screw into?? anyone know what im talkin about? oh and should the pre98 console appear to be about an inch or two farther forward that the post98 on the floor in the rear seat?

well i got mounting hardware and stuff now that fun part. i got it in there but look at this gap i have. does that little trim piece cover the gap on the sides too or is that something i have to live with?

if you have all the proper parts (which will turn up in more then one post in a search) the center console will only mount to the dash in one way/spot/location.

those two front screws i got in are in plastic molding that is mounted to the car. i think the only piece im missing is the trim but does the trim take care of the gaps in the side or just the front ?

post some pics of what you have and where you are in the install as I can't picture what you are talking about.

See, there is one more piece you are missing, the piece that goes behind the center console that holds it up to the HVAC piece... it compeltes the bottom of the HVAC piecce... I couldnt find another one that wasnt broken... if you cant find one soon, let me know, Ill send you my personal one and continue looking for another!

well ill live with it like this for a while since i go to school sunday and will be busy with football. but i was wondering if the post 98 cigerette lighter wire hooks up to the pre98 or do i gotta replace the pre98 one with the newer one? i need to get that to work the trim piece and now the ebrake piece for the boot. other then that i like it. just need to paint it to match my trim pieces now.

you shouldnt have any gap at the side or on the top, with or without the trim piece. the trim only coves the 1/4 inch of console above the pocket. the sides of your console must be bowed outwards, which would make it sit that little bit lower

Yes the connector will work on the cig lighter, but you are going to be missing the connector for the light. There is a light that lights the green ring around the socket and shines into the ash tray. You just need a wire that connects to your dash lights from off the dimmer switch, and clips to the tab on the light. (most of the bulbs will be burned out.... lol)

Also I hate to tell you this now but the screws on the sides of the hvac covers are supposed to be a particular flat headed screw that has a little trim cap that snaps on to them. Yes it is supposed to be aligned with the front of the HVAC bezel but It looks like your alignmnet is not quite right since the gap between the dash and the console appears too large. It does fit different in the rear, you didn't show the whole thing in your pics. Ryanblacksvt has it fit correctly in his pics.

Looking at your console in the pic of your shifter it doesn't look someone was very kind when they removed it from the donor car. The tab that sitcks down looks beat up. That tab helps locate the console in the correct forward / back alignment. It does stick back farther since it has that ash tray on the back end of it.

All in all any adjustments you need to do now are minor and in the end it will look great. Not sure if you can still use the correct screws those ones you used may have made the holes too large. What the heck who looks there anyway....
