Just got through tearing the passenger door apart only to find out that the regulator needs replacing. Looks as though small hands may be required for this sort of thing. How easy are these things to change out or am I better off just paying some auto glass repair shop to do it?

Thanks

No not really. Its easier then it looks.

Remove the door panel, and speaker. Connect the power window button with the door panel off. Drop the window half way you will see the two bolts that hold the glass are accessible through two holes on the inside door skin IIRC. Just line it up remove the glass towards the outside of the car and you will then have access to the motor and regulator.

Also, Your better off replacing the whole assembly (regulator and motor) instead of just the motor IMHO. There is not much price difference and it comes assembled. $65.00 bucks at rockauto. Also after a long time the plastic cable ends of the regulator become brittle and brake so if you do decide to keep your old regulator be careful taking it out.

It's easy, just tape the window up to the top when you remove everything so it doesn't fall and break. Small hands aren't necessary, you just need to get your fingers in there to support everything while you wiggle it out. Mine was hesitating and I just pulled it apart and re lubricated everything. Just knock it out, it's easy and you'll be glad you did.
