plugs and wires

Last edited:
are there any stores other then ones online where i can find taylor thunder volt 8.2 plug wires. i tried advanced and discount and netheir one of them carried that kind. any suggestions cause i wanted them by this weekend so i didnt want to order them off the internet.

Personally i have never looked into wires that much

Plugs, on the otherhand i know an incy bit about. I have always been partial to Bosch Plt. +2. Some people go with other brands. I just stick to what works in my day to day life.

Its funny actually, b/c i just changed my wires and plugs not 30 minutes ago and man, i will tell you what! I fell in love with my car all over again.

AutoZone ended up giving me Bosch Plt. +2 for the price of Autolite Platinum. They didn't have enough of the Platinum ones or two's.

In the past, there were several who complained about the longivity of Bosch +4 when used on a Duratec V6. I suspect that the +2 will have similar issues.

I have had succes with Autolite double platinum.

how long did it take u to receive them cause i ordered them last week and still havent received a tracking number or anything. im running double platinum autolites but i havent put them in yet waiting for the wires to do it all at once.

Bwahaha.. they gave you a set of already overpriced Bosch plugs(that DON'T work in this platform) because they were out of another plug? How NICE of them!

Enjoy the newfound smoothness; while it lasts.

I got mine from them and it only took a couple of days. Maybe they are out of stock or something?

I dont understand why people dont just use the OEM Ford sparkplugs. Are the NGKs or other plugs significantly cheaper?

Motorcraft plugs are made by Autolite. Autolite APP764 is identical to the original Motorcraft plug used on the 95 V6. The 96 and newer original equipment is a fine wire plug, and Autolie recently released that plug under their own label. The Autolite fine wire is probably better than the Motorcraft because the side wire is iridium and should hold up even better.

As to which is better, fine wire with platinum and iredium or conventional with double platinum, I'll leave that for others to discuss.

The APP764 works exceptionally well and the last time I needed a set they were about $4.00 each. You would be hard pressed to get NGK or Motorcraft for that price. So far the fine wire Autolites have been pricy too. The last time I checked Pep Boys, they had to be special ordered and were $11.00 each.

For those who are interested, the Autolite Xtreme performance plug for the 2.5 can be bought for $6.48 per plug @ Advance Auto. I think this is the fine wire iridium plug with platinum side wire Jim was referring too!

Jeez, I can get NGK Tr6's for 1.99 a PLUG here in podunk Louisiana!
