hey everyone. You guys know a little more about these vehicles than I do so I have a quick question. I am going to look at a 1998 CSVT today and heres the info. Just wondering what you guys think its worth and please be honest.. Thanks this is his ad.

1998 Ford Contour SVT with a 3.0 liter v6 engine from a 2003 taurus swapped in (to replace the stock 2.5L, adding 60+ hp). I bought the car with about 30k miles on the 3.0 engine, but after driving it for about 8 months, the 3rd gear synchro in the transmission went out and the engine developed a loud knock, so I immediately had the engine professionally rebuilt and the transmission professionally replaced with a very low mileage one. The car now runs perfectly, and I am only selling it because I recently purchased another car.

The car is a 5 speed manual (as all Contour SVT's are) and it has 92,000 original miles on the body. The midnight blue leather interior is in almost perfect shape, with no visible marks or stains. It has power everything, including driver's side power seat. The car comes with a Panasonic deck, 6x8" infinity reference speakers in the front (one of which just blew, unfortunately), 6x8" Alpine type-s speakers in the back, and 2 10" Infinity Reference subs/Kicker amp enclosed in the trunk.

The exterior is in pretty good shape. The paint is good except for some white door dings on the driver's side doors, and a pretty big scratch on the bottom of the passenger's side front bumper (the bottom of the bumper is actually cracked but is not visible unless you are underneath the car). The car has 17" 11 spoke White wheels wrapped in very low-mileage Khumo Ecsta ASX all season tires, which are amazing. These tires were not cheap and are the best overall performing tires I have ever owned.

The car runs better than it ever has and is perfect mechanically except for the rear driver's side strut which recently gave out. It has been well maintained and cared for, regular oil changes, maintenance, including new rear brakes and e-brake cable, etc. The only performance mods on the car are a ram air intake, superchip performance chip, and a modified y-pipe (restritctive excess welds were shaved off to increase flow, yielding probably 5-10 hp).

Overall, it's a nice car. It handles better than almost any other American sedan, still has a smooth, luxurious ride and plush interior, and gives similar straight-line performance to a V-8 Mustang (Although I don't race the car, so I can't attest to which one is actually faster). I'm a little bit sad to be getting rid of it, but since I can't afford two cars, I have no choice.

I think this should sum up everything.

This is my old car!! That kid beat the living piss out of it. Had to re-build the new motor again after he bought it from me. his story doesn't pan out to well if you do the math on miles and what not. nonetheless, NOBODY should buy this car or even entertain the thought of thinking of buying this car. Tell all your friends too. If you know this kid, David, and I am in the wrong...then I apologize. I'm pretty sure I am right. So I digress.

Plus, he wants $7500 for this thing, argghhhhhh!!!

Read this again....this kid is crackin me up, all his "facts" are hear-say.

NO clue!!!!!

The car is in Brooklyn Park Minnesota. The kids name is David. It is a t-red CSVT with 11-spoke white wheels witha machined lip. It does have a 3L "hybrid".

See this is why I came to you guys. Thanks SO MUCH! I really appreciate it, seriously! If anyone knows of any others around Mpls/ St paul minnesota area Please let me know. Thanks again!!! Won't even waste my time.

No problem! Glad to help :).

Good thing I checked this thread. When I started reading it, it sounded just like another car that was being described in North Central Branch so I took another look back and sure enough. This car definitely looks like a bad apple.

I Emailed the guy, when i saw the ad.
Asked him if he was on CEG or NECO. he hasnt responded.
To be honest, if the car has a good 3L in it, offer him 5k and spend 2k doing a transmission with a LSD and your set.

The whole point was that this car has been ragged on, and it is overpriced. There are only a handful of people who I would trust to build and 3L. Considering that this guys 3L needed to be rebuilt with such low miles, then either the car was really not taken care of, or it was just a poorly done 3L job.
