I don't think your guitar strings will hold if your hood came loose. I'd use something much thicker.

What you need to do is cut a hole in the middle of the hood, so that if it pulls a Terry Bradshaw / Mel Tillis and wraps around the windshield, you'll be able to see, no problem.

I had the CF hood as long as you did or maybe a bit less, I never had a problem with it nor at high speeds (16hr drive to SZ06 and back) did anything go wrong with. With that said you dont have to buy hood pins necessarily, what I was planning on doing was to get the sleek Aerocatch pins. I believe Rick (Buckshot) had them on his, they looked awesome

^^^ those were what i wanted goonz, but i couldnt find them when i wanted to order. i got hoodpins from hoodpins.com (not sure if they are made anymore) but they are all the security you will need. sorry about the bad pic:

true but the aerocatch ones are just different and I could just picture a set of black ones on a CF hood on a black car, it would look sweet.
The CF sheet replacing the logo is a 'backing' I guess you could call it. I am going to put an Aluminum SVT decal over the front of it. The CF is just a bit of contrast for it.
If that were the weak point, then yes it would be useless. I am more worried about the hood not fully latching in the stock latch on the car. It 'feels' like it is fully secured, but you really have to push down hard to get it to lock in place. There is no gap in the front, so you cant really pull up on it to check.
I have been thinking about it, and I might get some of the key-lock pins. That way the hood wouldn't sit so damn tight on the headlights and I wouldn't need to use the stock latch or the make shift hood safety.
Guitar string, just one. You would be really surprised at how much weight they can support.

I was toying with the idea of these for my old C5, when I was thinking of getting a CF hood for it. I like the smooth idea, if they were only about half the size I would probably buy a set.

The weak point is on the hood itself so.....if the hood latch breaks or tears u will keep that on your car. But BYE BYE CF HOOD. :shrug: I like pins but i also like the clean look of the CF. so im not even sure what im gonna do when i end up gettin CF.

It is built very well around the steel latch plate. And if it ever did fly up, I dont care about BYE BYE CF HOOD. I care about BYE BYE windshield/roof/pillars.
